I enjoyed the music lesson: a lark teaches Tian how to play the flute by plucking qin strings and absolutely not singing at all. As for the Grandmaster, i am holding out hope for a cormorant.

Nah I will legitimately be shocked if she’s fridged at this point. While it would be consistent with the genre it’s like the 3rd worst trope in the genre, which is saying something, and Warby has consistently dodged the worst the genre has to offer and has focused on the good points. It’s probably the exact opposite actually she got to experience what a physical relationship with him would be like and now isn’t sure she can control herself around him. And is ashamed of that.

I think it’s a complex sentence, but the way it reads now where the second half of the sentence mirrors the first half seems appropriate for the way the Lark speaks

This is a fantastic chapter but something in it especially stuck out to me on read: > The Lark smiled again, and this time he could see her lips twisting with irony. “We really are not suited at all. I’ve seen people I wanted to teach less, but very few I less thought I could usefully teach. I will send you up the mountain presently. There is someone you should meet. He swore an oath to never take another disciple, but I know he is anxious to transmit his dao. He will teach you useful things, as well as providing a suitable cultivation ground.” The sentence after "We really are not suited at all" has a lot of jank to it currently IMO, and although it gets across what is intended easily enough, it might be worth considering a restructuring--something like "I've met people before that I'd want to teach less, but only a few that I thought my tutelage would be useless for".

I think it is the inherent selflessness and lack of vanity Tian has. From this chapter I got the notion that the lark was a fairly vain creature, not maliciously, but in the way people who go on wine tasting events in their free time are. She also seemed fairly uninterested in putting the world right, but that isn't necessarily contradictory to Tian, just not complementary either, especially with Hong as his dao partner.

Im curious what was in the lark that made them so unsuitable. A lack of ruthlessness? The lark did not seem a creature full of gratitude. Kindness? Maybe to a degree but not gratitude.

You know....we are NO WHERE near the top of the mountain...maybe the 8 Direction Sect still Exists...just HIGHER up the mountain than the Crane Sect Master has Knowledge Of. its a typical Trope... Weak Sect/Minor branch of large sect/whatever w/MC...MC gets stronger, joins Larger Stronger/branch Sect..MC gets Stronger ...Joins the "regional sect" gets stronger, joins the Main Sect. gets stronger, joins the Core part of the sect etc. Could it be that the Crane Monastery is in the boonies and under such poor management that the person in charge of the "lowly branch servant sects" ignores it/forgot about it due to how weak they actually ARE?. the immortal homes, caves treasures etc are all in the power range of the Sect Master.... heavenly person- stage above that...and LOWER.... we have now experienced someone a stage higher? than Starseive who lives in an area is stronger than any of the humans- that we know of- that live there.... could there not be humans/ members -in the 8 directions sect...higher than the peacock... that live...higher up the mountain?

yeah if we use the commonly translated terminology i would say the earthly realm's 10 levels are broken into: 1-6 are Body Refinement and then 6 - 10 are Qi Gathering Realm (kinda). The scale of said realms is wrong for this story as heavenly people can do things that do not really fit into that mold for the Foundation Establishment power level. That said most other things do fit into the Realm. So she is probably late core with a large amount of Spirit Transformation stuff going on in the whole system w/ the shen ~ brain power stuff.

I'm calling it now. The guy who will teach Tian is a crow. Tian has benefits and wrongs in a ledger and returns each multiplied. He had ONE TIME where he decided not to return the debts owed and he had to go through convolutions about it because there was also a huge merit on the other side. Crow behavior. Tian inner monologue: " Hmmmm.. big debt here. Collecting would mean torching my whole life, and putting me at odds with most, if not all people I know. Hmmmmm... close. More data needed. I should probably think about it more."

I mean a key question what is "outside" the Dao is everywhere. Sequestering ignores the Dao and has obvious futher consequence from such. So one cannot ignore and by existing one affects everything else, so the question of affecting becomes kind of inevitable.

Hm probably a kernel of truth here in how to teach others of the Dao through self realization here. As the issue isnt disclosure of information but of helping self realization of connection to the self in everything. Also sidenote well now we obviously need wetnurse tian arc to give him more moe moments for Liren to give us more "cold young mistress is actually very warm" tropes.

If we go by standard Xianxia leveling schemes the outer court are all in muscle strengthening/body forging realm. After that you usually have Qi Gathering (Heavenly), Formation Establishment (what Starsieve was), Core Formation, Nascent Soul and then some number (between one and four) of false immortal realms before we hit the Immortal Realms of which there are as many as the author cares to write.

As I wondered, it seems like this world follows the typical xianxia trope of having a bunch of different cultivation levels. Taking ISSTH as analogous to this, it seems like Earthly, Heavenly, and whatever comes after Heavenly are merely in the first cultivation realm, and there are multiple realms after that. Excellent! Frog in the well and all that.

Thank you for the chapter I am a little Late since i come from RR and only bought membership Yesterday But within Sect reforms , that i think we will see more in Vol 6. Will Also come question of what to do outside the Monastery and that begs the question. Should Monastery have influence , or intervine, in the decision making or happening in Kingdom/State ? While i understand that thai question may seen stupid since ignorong the world brought them into the situation they are in , there will still be some stuborn fools. And so this just came to my mind. I think the answer is: It basically doesnt matter , since just the existance of Monastery itself is influencing the state and Society around itself. If you sa a tenat or peasant what he would want to be , what would be their answer ? Some would say Scholar, berocraut , Craftsman or maybe even official in court or Soldier. But most would say Cultivator. The existance of cultivation and Monastery itself is skewering the perception and change of Society , since they look to the Cultivators , who in bigger picture outiside of protection and some rare resources provide basically nothing. So what matters is: How much should they influence and intervine in the ,,outside,, world ? Its just, something that Has come to my mind, my ramblings. Once again thank you for the chapter
