An Honest Update About My Current Circumstances.

Hi everyone,

First, I’d like to apologise for the recent lack of updates. The short summary is that I’ve been unwell, and there has also been a change to my day job’s working-from-home policy. The core animations for the upcoming release are complete. I only have the climax and idling animations left to finish. However, I haven’t had the capacity to produce an additional secondary animation, and depending on how next week goes, I may need to delay the release by a few days.

I’m sharing this update for transparency, as there has been an unfortunate change in my circumstances that has reduced the amount of time I’m able to dedicate to VAM development.

While I prefer to keep my personal life and VAM separate, this change is directly affecting my available time, and I felt it was only fair to let you know. I have a full-time job, and my work here has effectively become a second job. This is something I’ve previously been able to balance because I was permanently working from home. With no commute and more flexibility, I could use breaks and quieter moments to continue development, which made the workload manageable.

Four weeks ago, my employer announced a sudden policy change requiring home workers to transition to a hybrid working pattern starting the following week, with mandatory days in the office. Alongside this, my responsibilities have expanded, meaning that I will occasionally need to work later in the evenings. While this is frustrating, it’s within the bounds of my employment contract and my appeal has been denied.

Because of this, I now have significantly less development time, and I will need to reassess how best to manage my workflow and schedule moving forward.

For clarity and reassurance: I am not considering quitting. The likely outcome is simply a longer development cycle. I will post a separate update regarding what I decide.
