My Audio File Process

Hello cutie,

I've been doing some reflection on my Patreon and what I'd like to do with it moving forward. I'll be making changes to rebalance the tiers next month but I'll post more about that later today or tomorrow. Right now, I still have to finish writing and then recording this month's vote audio today.

Last year, I answered a Curious Cat question about my file making process. As Twitter and CC have had server outages and issues lately, I'm going to post what I wrote before as I still have the same process.

The latter paragraphs mention my truly unsustainable 9 audios a month. 😅
Not long after answering this question, I made the choice to reduce that to a more manageable number. I've found that my creativity and quality improved when I'm able to focus on a smaller amount of ideas to develop instead of crushing pressure. Taking time to meditate and focus on self-care refills my creative well.

Also I'm now standing instead of sitting while I record audio. I'm able to breathe better, I sound better and I don't have to take as many breaks between sentences.

What's your file process like?

I spend a lot of time writing my scripts, between trying to think about a creative idea and then agonising over every word. The editing process is so very time-consuming. 

For instance, I Control Your Pleasure Dial is the latest file I released Patreon and when completed is just under 12 mins long. I think a conservative estimate of time would be about an hour of work for every minute, probably closer to the 14-15 hour range in total for that single file.  

My raw recording for I Control Your Pleasure Dial was about 21 minutes long, including lots of deep breaths, repeating misspoken sentences, squeaky seat, tongue and mouth clicks, water breaks, etc. All of which have to be edited out.

For this file, I think editing took somewhere in the range of 5-6 hours of intense concentration. Followed by repeated listening to catch any small gasps of breath or anything else. All of these tasks add to a mental fatigue.

At the moment, I'm producing a minimum of 9 audio files a month on Patreon, 5 of which are longer files much like I Control Your Pleasure Dial. One audio every 3-4 days.

I'm aware I'm slowly on the path to burn-out with such an intense release schedule, I think it's likely over the next few months, I'll need to focus on reducing my output and focusing on my mental balance and wellness.  

My mantras don't take as much time as they usually focus on a repeated phrase. Thank you so much for your insightful question.
