Penitent Book 1 is Complete!

Ch 94 was the end of book 1!

I hope you're all happy with it, I think it's a really good start to things. The four subsequent books will probably be a little shorter, I really didn't realize how much more exposition writing and Isekai makes you have to do.

If you're worried about the loss of the military angle, I can promise it will be reoccurring part of the story, there'll just be breaks for adventure and other things.

No breaks before the start of book 2: Pilgrim. In fact I'll be moving to a 4 days a week posting schedule starting this Sunday! No price increases or anything, just a little bonus for here and for RR readers since I've been making great progress on my backlog.

Thank you all for reading!

Wooooooooooo

Beeees!

I agree, the MC seems to have limitless power in some parts of this story, while equally talented penitents seem to have not. Ollie is a powerful mage and could be a main character in his own right. We don't really see the scope of the MC power until these last chapters and even still it's unclear. We get no frame of reference, no limitation towards his powers.

Congrats on finishing the book. I genuinely liked the story. Here are a few points I wish were better. I do not want to go into the conundrum of absolving yourself for a higher cause and deserting. I would not have done it this way, but MC does not have to agree with me. That part is fine with me. I did not like that as we dove deeper into Michael's psyche, some friends in the band got left behind. Especially Davi and Ollie I also did not like the speed at which the MC is growing in power, this feels untenable. The getting extra OP and special compared to others part of the story is the least interesting for me, and reduces the tension, which is why I dropped Downtown Druid. Your world building is first class..
