Great reaction. When I saw it in the theater, the dogs weren’t the clue (they barked at Don Johnson as well); a true case of “Like father, like son.” It was Harlan’s mothers that pointed me in the right direction. They said Harlan and Ransom. Were always fighting, so it made sense that the dynamic included Ransom, the entitled asshole storming off. Her statement of Ransom, you came back again was the clue. He she believed he was returning once, she would have said, “You're back, or you’re here again.” The back again meant she had already seen him after he initially left. If there was any character I felt some sympathy for, it was JLC. Her beloved father (it does appear their closeness was in fact true), is dead; her son is revealed to be a murderer, whose initial plan centered on killing her father; and her husband is a cheating PoS (note that the person he was cheating with didn’t match his America for Americans, read: White People rant from earlier in the movie).

The mug said "My house, my rules, my Coffee." 😁 I think Marta will take care of them but will also try to educate them not to be such ugly people.

2026-01-22 21:44:14 +0000 UTCThese movies are such great mysteries. Even if you figure out a big part of it, there are still enough reveals for that extra bit of context to fully understand. The wrap-ups are TIDY. All three are great. This is probably my favorite though. That’s not to say they dip in quality because they’re very consistent. The first just comes together so well that you come to expect it from the franchise at the expense of your mind being blown at the attention to every detail. Like the bookending of the movie with the My House mug.

I think someone changed the writing on the bottles and took away the antidote. She picked the bottles like always without looking and so she gave him the right one. The murderer realizes later that he isn't dead and kills him.

Quick thing: Linda’s letter is from her dad telling her that her husband is cheating on her. He showed Richard in the beginning the letter. Richard thought it was blank but Linda said her and her dad had a secret language (ie invisible ink). Also in the last scene Richard has black eye most likely from Linda punching him.

The bit at the end with Jamie Lee Curtis and the note - that was the note that Harlan showed Richard, inside which he said he was going to tell Jamie Lee Curtis' character that Richard was cheating on her. Richard later went into Harland's study and opened the envelope, but the note appeared blank. However, JLC knew there was a trick to her dad's notes to her (as she mentioned a couple of times throughout the movie, they had their own game they played, so she could communicate with him) - and since Richard didn't think the note was of consequence, he didn't throw it away and she found it, used her lighter to activate the invisible ink, and saw the note her dad promised Richard he would give her if Richard didn't confess to her himself that he was cheating.
