I’m so glad you liked this!!! I live your take on the message, and I also felt like part of the bigger message was about how shame and guilt can trap us in unhealthy cycles, like being afraid to fully accept ourselves and hiding parts of ourselves from people we love because we’re afraid of how they might see us differently, especially if we’ve already experienced judgement from our parents(or parental figures) over these parts of ourselves. AND I think part of the message is that when you finally allow yourself to be seen, with all of your insecurities on display, that opens you up to be fully loved and accepted in a much healthier and real way. Because you chose to be authentic and that gives the people in your life the opportunity to love every piece of you, accept the parts you thought couldn’t be accepted. And part of the big demon performance, the line “I’m the only one who will love your sins”, makes me think that they’re supposed to represent unhealthy relationships, people who target your insecurities and use them to manipulate you, like “yeah I’ll hurt you and use you, and you’ll let me because no one else will ever love you the way I do, no one else will ever be able to look past your flaws, but I love you for them because I can use them to make you my plaything” Like I know it doesn’t have to be that deep but I love to over analyze and I think they gave us plenty to think about here

2025-12-12 16:16:26 +0000 UTCMy 6 year old daughter is obsessed with this movie, she’s trying to sing all the songs and learn the lyrics. She does elaborate interpretive dances to the songs in our living room, often incorporating foam swords. Every day in the car to and from school we listen to it, though she makes me skip all the saja boy tracks “because I don’t like demons” 😂 I wish I’d had a movie like this when I was a kid. Who doesn’t want pop star sailor moon? For real.
