HUNGER GAMES - MOCKING JAY PT 1 FULL LENGTH REACTION

HUNGER GAMES - MOCKING JAY PT 1 FULL LENGTH REACTION

Listening to “the hanging tree” and just thinking it must have been inspired by “free until they cut me down” by iron and wine lol

ngl, the Finnick storyline hits different in the era of Epstein 😬

Something I rarely seen brought up, but is SO important to me - those 8 extra minutes that Peeta bought for them saved Prims life. NO MATTER what, she was going to go back for that cat!

Eddie

This is my favourite in the series aswel 🙂

Shauni

hahahah, yeeaaa i can't risk it all for a feline I'm sorry haha. Hitting play right now, wish me luck!!

Taco, my friend, my pal, for the first time I need to HARD disagree with you. In an air raid I am absolutely going back for the cat. 😂😂😂 You are straight up WRONG for that hahaha. It’s maybe the “quietest” movie of the 4 but I feel like all of those calm moments make this one stand out. You called it out at one moment but they finally take some time to flesh Gale’s character out in this one and you only really get that because they cut the book into two movies. It got a lot of flack for it when they came out because so many other series were doing it (Twilight being the one that had done it most recently iirc?) but I always felt like this really worked for Mockingjay. Pt 2 to comeeeeeee, you are IN for it 👀👀👀

Natasha

Have you seen him in "Magnolia"?

Myra

I got emotional too. Especially with what’s happening lately it seems all too relevant.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was such a treasure. His incredible talent will be missed, he really made the character of Plutarch work - he’s charismatic, complex, subtly sinister… just with the few lines he delivers.

Valaree

Watching this in the theatre had the whole room SILENT. Wish they would re-release movies like this so we could do it all over again!

Amanda you bring up such an interesting discussion about why it feels to be so rare for male reactors to love Peeta and some of us seemingly hating Gale as well. Reactors are in such a unique situation. As one myself I can say a lot of, if not the majority of us are in tune with what we are "supposed to be enjoying during a reaction" on the more surface level. For example Frank and myself, even if we are aware of those beats it does not necessarily mean we will act out of character or self indulge more for "wow factors" sake. You all get our genuine authentic reaction whether that is hit or miss for you all is out of our control but that is our approach. I say all that to bring this point in. With analytics on our side ( being able to see who the majority of our audience is location, gender, age, etc.) You sometimes run into people who are tailoring their "authentic reaction" to meet the preconceived expectations of their audience. I'm not saying that is everybody but there are more than a few people who think hating on the soft spoken not traditionally masculine character is the "right approach". Others truly may not even understand at a certain point in their life how to relate to a character like Peeta , so to go back to what you said. Yes it is very unfortunate. Of course there are a plethora of other reasons but this is the one that drives me the craziest not so much with Peeta because I have not watched any other Hunger Games reactions but just in general for characters that are like him. Another good example of a character that fits his mold is Armin from AOT if you have seen it. With Gale of course I cannot speak on the book readers he's probably a completely different character there or way more fleshed out in the books. It may be some people want to pick sides when it comes to Katniss love interest. They may see him as in the way or " playing on Katniss heartstrings" to try and get her to notice him I am not to sure. What I do know is Gale is a FUCKING HERO in his own right who has shined with the amount of screen time he has gotten. Regardless of the games all things he has saw, death, Katniss and Peeta, the complete annihilation of his district he has always been there for Kat and her family, his people and he even went on the volunteer only mission to save Peeta. Knowing Peeta and Kat have a thing. Gale is a REAL ONE!!

The Hanging Tree is awesome. After finishing the film I listened to it on repeat. 🔁

What’s always so utterly (extra) heartbreaking about Peeta being hijacked as a war machine is recall what he said in the first movie, before the games started, he told Katniss, “I just don't want them to change me. I just don't want to be another piece in their games. If I'm gonna die, I wanna still be me”. And now his worst nightmare has come true. I will always understand why they split the last book into two movies — there was waaaaay too much to cover. But this one as a standalone is dark (darker than the thematics of this story as a whole). All that to say, I can’t wait for you to get to Part 2. So I hope you get one of those itches where you gotta watch it in the next couple days. Nonetheless, I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to this series! (One of the biggest reasons being because it is unfortunately so rare for male reactors to love Peeta as much as he’s meant to be loved, and never understand why so many loyal Hunger Games readers/watchers cannot stand Gale.)
