Hi. I just wanted to comment on the angel thing. I get why you have an issue with it. We have a large generation gap I’m 69 years old so I was a teenager in the 70s when it was sex drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, pre-aids, etc. and we were a wild bunch. When Buffy came out in the 90s, believe it or not it was fairly politically correct for its time. Now I’ve watched Buffy and angel as an adult for a long time. I’ve seen it many times and I will say that, as far as I can tell with all the vampires, their maturity level was basically frozen at the age that they were when the demon possessed them and they became vampires so yeah Angel basically thinks he’s still a kid. I’m really looking for it to continuing to watch your reactions to the show I do think that things have improved a whole lot as far as gender relations go, and I’m all behind it. I just remember when it was so different and it’s interesting to see the progress that’s been made and I do applaud you younger people for being so much more aware of stuff than we were. One last note about Xander I think basically his role is to say the things that horny young teenager say out loud instead of just keeping it to themselves because let’s face it we were all hormonal messes when we were teenagers. He really does have some redeeming qualities and they do come out much stronger later on so don’t give up on him totally again really appreciate your show and I’m sorry for the poor punctuation, but I’m doing this verbally and so it’s just I’m just not doing AutoCorrect at all. Take care thanks bye

Only had time today to watch the first 2 but want to post my thoughts to those ones now:
Inca Mummy Girl is definitely one of the episodes that could have been stronger than it is. They wind up hitting some of the plot points/parallels that you were looking for here in future arcs with future characters.
Ep 5 thoughts: I hear you, for sure 100%. I think though that it’s also worth noticing that it’s not that the dynamic is a little gross unintentionally, but that the relationship is marked as impossible and doomed from its very beginning. They both want to be in love with the other but there’s always something in the way, the age difference being the number one issue right off the bat.
BtVS is *always* about the metaphor. Angel + Buffy as a relationship (at least in s1 and 2) is about major age difference and the toxicity inherent in that kind of relationship, regardless of intent from either party. Don’t want to jump too ahead of where you are in the series, but all of her major relationships throughout the series are really about imbalances in romantic relationships, one way or another. It’s not here with Angel by accident, if that makes sense, at least imo.
At the end of the day in general, BtVS was a show for adults about teens, not a “teen” show (regardless of how it was marketed). Just brace yourself for some of the storylines in season 5 and 6. 😬😬😬

Maybe this helps with regard to Buffy and Angel: I always saw it like this -- the slayer has existed since the beginning of time. When one slayer dies, their essence transfers to the next. So, part of Buffy is more ancient than everyone...far more ancient than Angel. Meanwhile, Angel's soul was taken involuntarily when he was a teenager (when turned) and then was stuck like that for a long time. Then he was cursed and his young soul was returned and trapped in his ageless vampire body. So both of them are unique in all the world -- she, an ancient soul in a young body and he a young soul in an ancient body. As they are, neither can find satisfying companionship amongst their own kind because Buffy feels beyond human guys her age (plus she gets them killed or they betray her) and Angel hates other vampires because they are soulless and evil. Both feel like they are always alone in the world...and in a way they are.

REGARDING EPISODE FIVE: Did you ever see Jeffrey Epstein smile? There's very few photos of him smiling big...but it looks almost exactly like that serpent guy's mouth. (if you look in that famous video where he is at a party with Trump, at one point they are looking across the dance floor at some girls and Trump leans over to Epstein and whispers something in his ear -- then Epstein laughs and you can see his real smile for a split second. Pause the video at that moment... The resemblance will give you chills).

As many times as I've watched this, I've never realized that was Mr. Dip N Pitts getting initiated into the fraternity 😆. I thought looked familiar. To be fair, I do tend skip it more often tha, especially with reactions I'll watch it if I have no other reactions to watch lol. I also wasn't a big fan of The Game, so I only really watched it occasionally when my sister watched it, but Jason & Kelly were my favorites when I did. I usually associate the episode with the long haired frat creep because he played on General Hospital during my high school year in the 00s lol...

Reptile Boy really is excellent commentary that I was too young to really understand when I first watched the show. It’s also sadly ironic now that we know more about how Joss Whedon treated the women on set.

Taco: The thing you have to know about Spike, he never runts, he hunts down his prey. For him, it’s all about the cool factor, which you learn about through his backstory.

Halloween is ine of my favorites, its so fun! Revealing what each character is suppressing, but Cordelia is so committed to her constructed idenity the Queen bee, she doesnt change. The reveal of Giles dark past is so unexpected I love it. The episode 5 , im sure you are right about everything, never thought about it that deep but it does make sense. Loving these reactions!

@Foxtaco: Regarding episode 5, many of the male behaviors on this show are downright cringe. I always felt this, however, I was an adult viewer when it originally aired, so my perspective on Angel, Xander, et al. was different than most viewers’. Let’s just say that once the series ends, and you look into the show runner, a lot of what you see from male characters will start to fall into place. A wolf in sheep’s clothing, indeed.
Unfortunately, a lot of frats engage in activities like this. Far too many young woman have and continue to fall prey to this predatory behavior. Sadly, it is often romanticized by society; I mean look at Willow; just think of the whole “Lolita” narrative. You are correct about things like this happening to boys as well.
