2025-10-18 21:39:55 +0000 UTCA teacher not remembering a student's name is so real. I taught for 30 years, multiply that by say 75 - 125 students per year. No way I can remember all of those names. The other day I was subbing at the high school and a senior that I had in 8th grade stopped to chat. I definitely remembered his face and his personality and such, but I could not recall his name. So, I said, "I can't remember your last name?" Then, when he supplied it, I instantly knew his first name. Clever, eh? That's going to be a new trick. Sometimes, I just say, "I know your face, but I cannot remember your name." It feels TERRIBLE to say that, though. It really really does.
