I get the being creeped out by the Angel/Buffy thing... Though for some reason it didn't bother me at the time... Maybe because I was a teenager myself when I discovered the show. I for some reason always loved the Angel character and often felt bad for him having to deal with all that guilt. I don't know, I just liked the character

I looooove the song they chose for the dance scene, it sets the mood soooo well. I hate Xander with a burning passion but Buffy shouldn’t have teased him like that bc it just makes his obsession worse.

Thank you, especially when he basically acknowledges his age gap with Zander by calling him kid to belittle his opinion..smh I think the angel and buffy story line is here to stay but eehhh..I honestly dont get much out of it..so far

@FoxTaco: Your comment about Zander being “so into” Buffy while being oblivious to what’s going on with her speaks volumes in its abject truth. It is never about the “object of their affection “ for the Zanders (male and female) of the world. It is always ultimately about them and their wants. Buffy is the hot girl avatar for Zander. He is not interested in her as much as what she represents to him and his ego/perception of himself.
You are also right about the Angel thing. Vampirism aside, Angel was late 20s when he was turned, and Buffy is a teenager. It’s not cute or romantic, it’s downright perverse.

To be fair to Xander here, he just jumped just a group of vampire(and you know Xander was trying to fight back), Buffy literally just almost got them all killed, and has been treating them like shit. Trauma or not, there's still accountability for your actions. Xander wasn't oblivious. That's why he couldn't even enjoy the dance at The Bronze. He was fully aware that she was playing in his face and his feelings to the point you can see that he was actually getting pissed, even before she made her final comment before walking out. The whole, "maybe she's attracted to me", I don't think he was being serious. Or he was being momentarily delusional at the possibility, hence why he immediately agreed with Willow right after. He knew something was wrong and they all were trying to be supportive and patient, but there's got to be a line. They were actually trying to help, but you can't help someone Trust me. There's only so much you can do. Yes, there a certain patience one should try to have, but in my opinion, once the things you do start putting people's lives literally at risk, I think it's completely fair for that patience to immediately dissipate at the snap of the fingers, because now you're only just playing in people's faces. You're playing with people's lives. From Cordelia's, to her friends, to her own. You may not like what Xander said and/or how he said it, but he wasn't wrong, and honestly very justified in his rage, because like it or not, it really WAS Buffy's fault. She refused to listen. They literally told her it was a trap. She SHOULD have tried to work out AT LEAST a plan. If she DID work with them, they could have worked it out. Buffy KNEW it was a trap, but she was so busy thinking it was about herself, and wanted to go home off and be Billy Badass, that she didn't take the consideration of others here. I mean, it was supposed to be a rescue mission to save Cordelia, and she decided to going try and fight a group of vampires alone in what was already established to be a trap, and somehow save Cordelia in the process, by herself with no actual plan. It was Buffy that was impatient. It was Buffy that was actually refusing to pay attention. Not to mention, she was outright being condescending and shitting on them while they were trying to be there to help. Yes, Buffy has trauma, but that doesn't mean you're supposed to just accept disrespect. If anything, she got EXTREMELY lucky, all things considered. She could have just as easily walked into that library with 3 bodies in it, and Xander has zero clue if his best friend is dead or not. Because everything Cordelia said to Buffy was absolutely right, even if it wasn't the most gentle way of putting it, but again, Buffy was purposely outright being a bitch anf trying to hurt her friends, so civilityhas every right to be optional in this case. Trauma doesn't justify crossing boundaries and disrespect. And in the end, it was Xander that understood what Buffy. Letting it all out. Even Willow didn't even understand until it happened, but Xander knew. I feel like he doesn't get enough credit or he's held to a different standard, as if people view Buffy & Willow through a different lense than they do Xander(also yes teenage boys talk about sex all of the time, at least with their friends, and quite honestly, they still do it when they get older, just less because not only they're usually actually getting it, but they actually have other responsiblities to deal with instead of high school related stuff and chasing girls trying to get it, so Xander's pretty much on point in that regard lol). Also, you are right. These are indeed still teenagers. They're 16/17 years old in this season as juniors. You got to expect only so much emotional intelligence from teenagers lol. Sure there are some who have it, but there's plenty who genuinely either grow into it over time as they get older and more experienced with life, or just never grasp it at all( and/or out refuse to learn or care about it). But we can't hold kids to the standards we hold for because we're grown adults in our 30s, even if they're are close to becoming young adults. It's easy to forget with this show. I've been watching this since I was 6 when season 1 aired(I have two older sisters, so a lot of shows they watched, especially WB shows, I also watched, but Buffy's the one that absolutely stuck over time, nut we were already fans of the movie. Inwent as a cheerleader like Buffy when I was 4 lol)...
Also, I don't think it's fair the shame Xander for not. I mean, a lot of people don't want to date their friend, let alone their best friend, even if they DO find them attractive. It's boundary thing. A lot of people fear dating one of their friends, because it's not just a romantic relationship that's on the line. It's very likely that friendship like collateral, and if the romantic relationship is forfieted, usually you lose the friendship too, which sucks most of the time the friendship. They just aren't romantically compatible, but too much damage has been done to go back. Next thing you know looking back asking yourself, "Was it worth it?" And Willow's not only his friend, but his best friend. He lose Willow, he literally wouldn't have any friends left because Jesse is long dead and chances are Xander loses Buffy in the "divorce" to Willow, so to speak lol. Or maybe she's just not his type, which again, should be fair. I mean, Xander isn't Buffy's type it seems, be we respect that, even if there is a grown ass vampire man in her face lol. But I don't think he's wrong for not trying to date Willow...
If I'm being completely honest since I feel like no one ever really comes to this perspective, but Willow is kind a being a bit of the problem. Here me out. I mean, Willow had been doing ALL of this pining after Xander for who knows how long, but she refuses to open her mouth to say something. She's waiting on someone who probably doesn't even know it's even a real.optiom in the first place. If Xander was able to actually go up to Buffy and tell her about how he felt in hopes of a romantic relationship, in the face of possible rejection, then Willow should held to the same standard of doing the same. Even Buffy in season 1 told her that if she wanted and she continues to refuse. Them being together shouldn't be soley based on Xander. Like even in this episode. She's trying to recreate a moment in a situation that's in a completely different vibe than before, but won't bring up or talk about the actual moment itself with him. Her insecurities hold her back, but that's a Willow problem, not a Xander one. That's for HER to work out and deal with, and stop depending on someone else for something she wants herself...

This was a great start to season two!! Dang I wish we were doing another episode...these two episodes went WAY TOO FAST!! Back when it was on TV, I'd wait all week for it, and then the single episode would fly by! And I guess, because now the commercial breaks are removed, the episodes are pretty short -- what are they like 40 minutes? Cuz when you do 3 episodes, that feels like 2 hours...which...yeah...120 min is 2 hours. That makes sense! 😂. Well, this was great!! Thank you so much!
