This is definitely one of the episodes I normally skip but I decided to watch along with you just to see what you thought about it. Overall it's kind of a 'meh' episode but it has its moments. I forgot how funny Principal Flutie was here - 'HEAL!' I'm glad I got to see that again. I also really liked the moment in the end where Buffy quietly mourns her teacher and puts his glasses away. :(

Correct me if I am wrong for but is this not the same woman who stared in epsiode 13 of firefly snd fell for Mal? And yes i agree with you..it definitely wasn't epsiode 3 but it has its moments and they explored some things here, also I love anything science related lol..I was answering questions like I was in class 🤣🤣🤣😭

This is definitely one of the less-good episodes of the first season, but I do appreciate that they were touching a bit on predation by teachers. There was definitely a different cultural awareness of the issue in the mid-90s, especially in regard to female predators and male victims. This episode aired the same month that Mary K Letourneau was arrested.
The praying mantis prop was from an episode of Babylon 5. They were definitely on a tight budget this first season!
