V for Vendetta Reaction

V for Vendetta Reaction

Watching this movie for the first time during the 2020 lockdown was an Experience to say the least. Hits so hard every single time. I always get chills. So great watching with you!

Henry Leor

Super formative film for me, and if you have the time to read it, the comic is even better. The writer, Alan Moore, also did Watchmen and famously hates all film adaptations of his work. Iirc his major gripe with this film was the reframing of it to centre around Bush-era American politics, but I always thought it made sense. The fact that the similarities to current events are also obvious is pretty sad— 20 years later and it’s the same shit. Wondering if you’ve seen the Matrix films? Same directors (the Wachowski siblings), and the film one specifically is a great film.

My favorite movie since I was about 7 yrs old!! I’ve rewatched it many times while growing up and into adulthood. I was instantly deeply attached to it from the first time I saw it. It’s THE movie that has stayed with me, helped me built my own perspective & learn to question authority in life. As a kid, the emotional reaction I felt and plot I understood were deeply impactful (im still surprised I absorbed the message as well as I did), it was in my adolescence that I truly got the philosophy behind the vigilante & complexity of morality, then I got older and I understood the importance & relevance to our world even more. It’s still in my top 5 favorite movies and I believe it’s a must-watch for everyone.

“Children’s hour at the abby” is so fucked dude. Those people listening in on the population are literally listening to child rape and not doing shit about it. Just commenting on it and moving on. I’m just so fucking disgusted.

I just realized for the first time that the death reports on her parents were fabricated 🤦🏽‍♀️ “her mom copped it during the hunger strike” when she was literally dragged off to be tortured and killed by the gov’t.

Wow I had no idea how much of this movie dialogue have memorized….

I imagine most people who love this movie already love Rage Against the Machine, but if you, Fox specifically, haven’t given them a listen, I think you’d dig them a lot.

When I saw this movie I was like 13 or 14 and I printed off the V speech when he meets Evey, sat with it under my desk and recited it over and over until I got it. I’m 32 now and can still recite it on cue. Like when I saw the headline of this view I launched into “Voila!” and kept going…

One of my fav movies of all time, and my parents wonder how I became radicalized 😂 I mean it was a bunch of shit. *spoilers for people who haven’t watched the movie* After the South Park episode that just released mocking the fuck out of Trump, I can imagine reactors being recommended this movie repeatedly. Here’s to hoping the SP creators don’t wind up in a black bag.

The comic is by Alan Moore, as others have pointed out, the same author as Watchmen. The man sure does like a tortured hero saving the world from fascism by being an ice cold motherfucker. Loved your reaction. Great predictions! Valerie’s story makes me cry every damn time.
