Re: the painting, I can’t remember if they go into it so just my take— feels like a Get Out moment of like the racist POS admiring or displaying depictions of the “noble savage” as an indication of their racism. Not really seeing ppl of colour as people etc. Straight up forgot how good this show is. 🔥🔥🔥

2025-06-12 17:17:50 +0000 UTC11:23 So, I think it was WWI, which ended in 1918. This makes it work chronologically with the Tulsa Race Massacre occurring in 1921. The young boy's father went to war and returned home with that letter; later, he wrote "Please watch over this boy" (or something like that) on the back of the same letter during the massacre. 19:36 That's Bunny from "The Wire" 🙌 I feel like I never watched this show, but I definitely did. I remember loving it. Yet, I don't remember any details. This is fun watching again with you bc it feels new to me. I'm very confused. LOL.

Interestingly, he’s dressed more like someone who has been hanged (black hood, noose around the neck) than like an executioner. That may not be significant, however. A lot of these masked vigilante types in this universe have homemade costumes and their themes aren’t always well-thought-out. Maybe it’s just what dude had lying around the house when he decided to mask up and fight crime. 😅
