1. Lord of the Rings Trilogy -- seen it COUNTLESS times. The other films that impacted me most are old and I loved them cuz they were my dad's favorites: 2. THE KILLING FIELDS -- from the 1970s about the Khmer Rouge takeover of Cambodia... It's the most AMAZING true story of triumph in unbelievable adversity and it stayed with me ever after I saw it at age 11. This movie won Best Picture in the year it was made. Never would have seen it tho if my dad didn't make me watch it....I'm so grateful. 3. I loved horses but hated movies where animals got hurt -- so my dad suggested a movie called THE BLACK STALLION. It's a live action movie from the 1970s...a Frances Ford Coppola film ...it's so beautiful. Like crazy beautiful. And the horse doesn't get hurt! 4. My dads favorite movie -- THE BLUES BROTHERS -- from either 1979 or 80? It impacted me so much because its the only movie I've ever seen where Blues LEGENDS mostly perform their own music throughout the film. Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Cab Callaway, etc. It impacted my taste in music forever. More importantly, this movie is like a coming together film and to see that in a movie which felt 'old' when I saw it, it made me realize where we should have gone in society... why have we gone backwards in so many ways since the 70s? Thank you, Pops...RIP.
