(From the Archive) "Grappling" Comic Book #1 Free PDF!
Added 2018-10-30 19:01:45 +0000 UTCAfter uploading rough drafts of the first few pages of the upcoming “Grappling” #2 comic book yesterday, I wanted all of you wonderful Patrons to get the chance to read the first issue, “Grappling Book One - The Magnet”. Some of you may have already bought this and read it, but hey, why not read it again? It’s a moody, creepy story with moody creepy artwork, and it’s not a bad way to spend some time right before Halloween ;)
For those of you who don’t know anything about the Grappling comic book, here's a brief scoop:
The lyrics for Grappling are actually part of a coherent story. We wanted to elaborate on the cryptic lyrics in the songs and tell the full story. So we decided to write and draw our own comic book to do so. In November 2016, we released the first issue. It was written by Pat with artwork done by me (Dan) and my wife Kendra. Issue #1 sets up the events leading up to the lyrics in the song “The Magnet”. The upcoming next issue, which is two years in the making, will further flesh out these characters and events and reveal more of the story hinted at in the album. The end result will be a series of comic books that will accompany the album Grappling and tell one big scrawling epic story!!
We've attached a PDF of “Grappling Book One - The Magnet” in this post, which you can download and read at your leisure. Me and Pat have been working on the world of Grappling since 2013, and we're still constantly coming with ideas for it. It's really important for us to get this project out of our heads and into the rest of the world. We're very excited to continue to share in this with you, and we hope you enjoy it!
