Britney Spears influence in Be My Cat

When I was a teenager I discovered Britney Spears, more exactly Baby One More Time & Oops I Did It Again, and that was a big WOW for me. That's when I started to be interested in music as a form of art (till then I was a lot into sciences). Bigger WOWs came afterwards when I discovered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and then classical music, but I think the first one with Britney had the biggest influence on Be My Cat. As a teenager I experienced a form of falling in love with her public persona and even wrote a letter to her. Plus, I wrote her full birth name (Britney Jean Spears) on the ceiling of my attic with black smoke from a lit candle (I think I have some footage of the writing on the ceiling, my character pointing to it, but I didn't include it in the movie).
I think those experiences helped me shape my character in Be My Cat. Which in turn shaped the movie's celebrity obsession theme. And in general gave me an interest in popular culture. And you'll see more of that in We Put the World to Sleep (things like archival footage of Trump - yeah - time to get political).
