Adventure Gamers' Clubhouse #4: Code Name: Iceman

I wanted to write about the second of this month's installments of Adventure Gamers' Clubhouse, but every time I sit down to think about Code Name: Iceman I just become more and more irate.

The only games I can think of where I had a more miserable time playing them were games that ended up being 40-80 hours long. But if we equalize the playtime, it's this one. It has to be this one. Predominately because, there is no game here. The adventure game components of this are so flimsy that when you watch you'll see how immediately they disappear to be replaced by an equally non-existent (but long overstaying) Submarine Simulator. Every game that sets out to do the individual pieces this game attempts, does it so much better. Combining them into one "genre-expanding" release seems like the desperate bid to salvage what hoped to be a standalone submarine simulator — Or maybe Jim Walls just couldn't write a techno-thriller (I'm dying to know where the thriller, techno or otherwise, exists in this game).

I hope you find this an interesting relic.

Next month we'll play something good and interesting. I promise.
