In February of 1977, Helen Vorhees Brach went to the Mayo Clinic for a medical examination. She stopped at a small gift shop on her way out but after that quick stop, Helen was never seen again. Meg tells you about the disappearance of Helen Brach and her links to the Chicago horse mafia, murderers, and con men.

I’m from the area and love horses. I never knew that there was such a thing as the horse mafia but i’m honestly not surprised. Some of the people in the horse industry are shady. Horses can be costly, depending on their pedigree. My dad once rode a horse that was worth $250K at the stable I used to train at. Meg had briefly mentioned the name Frank. I used to train at the stable called Jaynesway Farm, which is owned by Frank. Not sure if he still owns it today, but I remember when he was arrested for arson - it was all the talk at the stable. I don’t remember all the details but I quickly looked him up and it looks like he is the nephew of Silas. I’ll have to go down this rabbit-hole now. 🙃 Sorry this is such a late response to this episode, I recently found you guys and have been binge listening at work. You guys are awesome!
