Rich Help & Support

Welcome to all my existing and new Patrons! I just want to say that you have all been incredibly generous in your giving and I love the support everyone has given this project. It wouldn't be possible without you.

Where's my sensor data?

First a bit of news: I have started working on syncing sensor data. It's still very early, but most of what I'm doing I have already done before so it's all familiar territory. That means work should move quickly and not have too many hangups. Once it becomes stable enough I'll release it to my $5 patrons while I finish working on the feature. If you have any feature requests, now's the time to bring them up. You can expect a chart much like Runtime Detail with a line for each sensor, plus maybe one tracking the average reported temperature.

Help & Support

In other news, check out doc.beestat.io! I spent a lot of time crafting a rich help & support website. I hope it's helpful and informative, in addition to reducing the amount of time I spend answering the same questions repeatedly. I love to answer questions but time I spend doing that takes away from new feature development.

If you want to help by writing guides for beestat or ecobee, please reach out to me. The documentation is built with Notion (referral link) which allows me to share and collaborate with other people. I also highly recommend Notion in general to help document your life or job.

Otherwise enjoy the documentation...read it...be informed! I'm excited to share where I'm at with the new features in two weeks...see you then!

Would moving to Canada be all that bad. It's nice up here :) As for sensor data, not sure how to display this, but I would love to be able to graph the delta between sensors. For example, by looking at this, you could experiment with how much fan run-time is required to keep the delta between all of the sensors at a reasonable level. Maybe average and peek delta between sensors, and put fan run-time on the same graph? I don't have the answers, but can ask some crazy questions :)

I have a pretty solid day job so we're safe for now. :) I did have the opportunity to interview at ecobee a while ago but I have no desire to move to Canada.

One of these companies is eventually going to steal you from us. I honestly wouldn't complain. You do such an amazing job. I always appreciate the updates and enjoy watching what you do. Maybe one day I will sit down and actually read all that documentation and see if there is anything I can collaborate.
