What is Gap-Fill?

Gap-Fill is an on-by-default just-now-named feature that has existed in beestat since day 1. A few people have noticed some discrepancies when comparing the Aggregate Runtime chart to their ecobee data, and this is why.

When beestat syncs your data with ecobee, sometimes things go missing. The best example of this is the data gaps from February of this year. The Aggregate Runtime chart does it's best to sum everything up, but bad data can muddy the waters.

To help alleviate that, beestat looks at the data it *does* have and tries to fill in the blanks. For example, if your heat ran for a reported 3 hours one day, but 12 hours of data was missing, Gap-Fill will guess that your heat ran for 6 hours. There are some other ways to more intelligently guess, but for the moment this works pretty effectively. Notice the difference in February's data above with Gap-Fill enabled; it looks much better.

Gap-Fill is now a selectable option on the Aggregate Runtime chart. Or at least, it will be soon or at least when 1.3 is released.

Speaking of 1.3

Progress is going well! I spent a lot of time trudging through dozens of heating and cooling efficiency profiles. I've made a number of improvements to those and, as a side-effect, the Resist profile as well. My bug list is pretty small but I still have some features I need to add. I am traveling this week and will resume development when I return. I am hoping to release March 29, but realistically that may be pushed back a bit.

As always, thank you for your support!
