Rest in Power, King of Rats, Lil' Ratso

After a previous appearance on the 10ish Pod, I explained the story of my poor pet Ratso. Long story short, about 20 years ago I inherited a pet rat who was rescued from a film set where he was supposed to be eaten by a snake. I did not want a rat in my house, but domesticated rats are affectionate and intelligent as hell. Well, a rat's life is never a long one, and I found myself sitting up with him on my chest one Christmas Eve listening to him gently stop breathing over and over. The next day I walked him down to the local vet and asked them to end his pain, which they did, and that's when THINGS GOT REAL. I was so moved by his passing that I lost it in the examination room. I lost it so thoroughly that they ended up putting a jacket over my head and moving me to an area further back in the building because I was freaking out people in the waiting room. After that I realized if you haven't had a good cry in a while, you really should, because saving it up is a not a welcome vibe. Ratso was cremated and delivered to the wrong address. RIP Ratso.
