Okay, so it's been a minute since I last did an update on what I've been working on, but I have a good reason for that. For the last week straight, I've been sinking all the time that I possibly can into the next game that we're reviewing on the channel: Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin!
This was the other Edo period Yakuza spin-off that the RGG guys made, and also just so happens to have never released outside of Japan. The game's 2023 remake would be released internationally, but the original never would, and it just so happens that we're taking a look at both of them for the series, so we're talking about the original here.
This being an RGG title, it is of course fairly deep when it comes to content, but another reason that it's taking so long is that I obviously can't read/understand Japanese quite as well as I can English, so even just the little things like reading all the text in the game take a bit longer than usual. I'm currently in the middle of Chapter 10, which means I still have a little ways to go playing through this one, as there are 14 story chapters total. I've been incredibly thorough with my playthrough so far, going out of my way to engage with as much side content as I reasonably can, making sure I'm doing all of the training to unlock new moves and experience the combat at its best, stuff like that. So it's still going to be a minute, but I want to make sure that I really give this the best review that I can, as the majority of the English-speaking Yakuza fandom will obviously not have had the chance to experience this one in its original form.
I'll just be grinding this one out for the next few days at least, and I'll have another update for you guys once there's a little more to show off :)
