Dev Build Update: Custom Groups, Updated Filters, More (July 1, 2024)

Hey everyone!

This patreon post is a big one because it includes everything we've built since April! If you've been a patron during this time, you know about our Testflight issues and may have already gotten access to these.

If not, here's the gist:

• You can now create custom player groups!

• You can now filter players by character + country/state everywhere in the app

• Event pages now have overview stats like "Biggest Upsets" or "Notable SPR"

What's in this release?

So much! If you download the build, it'll be obvious just how much has changed for the better.

Groups are a lot more useful, context relevant, and appear everywhere across the app. This makes it easy to search for whatever players you care about whether it's at an event, vs a player, or in normal search. Plus, you can use all these filters to help set up your custom groups for even easier access in the future.

On top of that, we've updated the event page to show aggregate stats and pull out useful info about an event and added custom sorting methods like "Best SPR".

With everything in this release, it's basically a v2 of the Smashers App!

Why'd this release take so long?

Unfortunately, we've had ongoing issues with Testflight that prevented us from sending builds to our internal testing users. We've had to have Apple fix this issue 3 different times since April and so we didn't feel confident in promoting a build that may not even be downloadable.

We have reason to hope that the most recent fix was a longer term solution than their previous bandaids.

What's Next?

We're preparing to launch the website and the app publicly. Then it's full speed ahead on 3 things:

• Building competitor/TO focused features like the Write API and expanding live scraper access

• Adding a proper bracket to the event page on the website

• Creating a fantasy league for Patreon
