[E.M.Supreme] Chapter 2 - Mana Flames

Mark shouted. “Stay back!”

He was only a son of a [Tanner], never having carried a sword or blade, and with zero experience with what it was like to fight for life and death.

There was no way he had any clue what to do in this moment.

Unbeknownst to him, his mana reacted to his fear and terror. The bubbling energy within his core came to life and surged through his body quicker than he could notice.

All the skeletons enclosed on him, chattering and clicking their jaws at him. Some slammed their weapons onto what little armor they had on to cause a cacophony.

Even from the distance, he could feel a cold permeating through the entire area once they had awoken, as though it leaked from their very bones.

Mark closed his eyes and swung his blade, shouting unintelligibly.

This time he felt the mana within his core shift and erupt from where it was being held. The world brightened in a blinding flash of different colored lights. Roaring energy screamed around him and engulfed the entire cavern. Unbeknownst to him, every single skeleton within the entire area had been turned to ash.

No sword survived, no shield or armor, not even the blade he carried in his hands.

The pool of moving water evaporated.

Crystals shattered and melted.

The mana within him kept roaring and flowing endlessly without any signs of stopping, charing all the stone around him black, and turn some parts closest to him into molten lava.

Mark struggled to bottle it in.

Only through a force of will was he able to contain the endless rush that had escaped him.

He opened his eyes and noticed the system messages first.

43x Level 55 Undead Skeleton Warriors Defeated!

Experience Gained - 75,000

Then his eyes drifted beyond that and noticed the hellscape that surrounded him.

Dripping molten lava from the ceilings and gathered in large pools, steam and smoke obscured his vision from seeing to the other side of the cavern.

Yet, somehow the ceiling had not collapsed and crushed him.

“H-Holy shit… Did I do this? How the fu–”

Mark felt that same mana bubble within him again, reacting to his change in emotion.

Unlike last time, he made sure to fight against it’s desire to be released. He had no control over how much was used and could end up bringing the whole place down, killing himself and causing a catastrophe if it spread out any further toward the town. He was luck enough that it hadn’t already caused to much damage other than locally.

Not all attention was good attention after all.

There was too much information at once so he focused on what he understood more of than the rest.

Mark stared at the lot of level 1 skills and the others with the weird squiggly lines besides it.

He hadn't gained any skills yet and wouldn’t have gotten any until he unlocked his [Tannor] class. Only the elites and nobles had enough wealth to buy skill shards and train their kids before their first class was unlocked. Mark was neither elite nor the son of a nobleman, but rather a teen of moderate means.

The class skills he received were already making his life easier.

Mana manipulation and elemental manipulation felt like the most important tools that he could have received out of any of the rest.

Yes, most, if not all, were more powerful and more capable of causing harm to others and increased his abilities, but that was not his ultimate goal.

Stability was.

Being able to control what he considered the might of a dragon seemed far more valuable to him than being able to launch two of the same exact attacks back to back. The thought of getting angry and burning down the kingdom's capital made a shiver run down his back.

Then again, considering he had a Golden Class, it was unlikely he would ever find himself there unless he wanted to get killed by an army of superpowered Royal Knights.

He was confident that he would not be able to have the life he always wished for now that he had unlocked this type of class.

Marrying Susana was no longer an option.

Though having a bunch of kids didn't seem sealed and locked away just yet, maybe he would get lucky.

Mark doubted it for some reason.

“Status,” he said. His father had trained him long enough to know the very basics of the system.

“My god, three thousand nine hundred and ninety nine…?” he was stunned and had no clue what he was supposed to think. “No wonder Golden Classes are forbidden.”

He couldn't imagine the type of destruction a war between two people of this power level would cause.

More importantly, that was not something he ever wanted to experience himself.

Mark surveyed the room one more time, only to freeze as he stared directly at a wooden doorway he had noticed the first time. It was signed black, but otherwise looked perfectly fine. Somehow it had survived the entire surge of his mana and enough heat to turn stone into lava without a scratch.

He walked up to it carefully.

Mark knew what it meant to have so many high-level undead skeletons in area.

If his theory was proven correct, then he was doubly screwed, not only a Golden Class, but now stuck within a high-level dungeon. He had no hopes of surviving without learning to control his new power.

Then again, this may have been a blessing.

He refused to allow himself to be so out of control that he would kill his loved ones because of one mistake just because he had a small or slight shift in his emotion. Or worse, losing control without any intent behind it at all. Mark could already sees the looks of fear and terror on the people closest to him if they saw him now.

A walking calamity that was likely to destroy them before coming to their rescue.

The Royal Knights won't leave his father and family alone either if he was ever figured out.

It made his decision very easy.

Mark placed his hand on the cold knob of the doorway. He stared in amazement at how it seemed unaffected even after all of the mana he had spent turning this place into a hellscape.

He took a few deep breaths, closed his eyes, and swung the door open.
