The Mythseeker - Delay

Hey friends and faeries,

Just wanted to offer an update about The Mythseeker. I’ve been working on this project for over a year and a half—usually 60+ hours a week between writing, art, world-building, planning, and managing the small community around it. I've made so much progress and can't wait to share it all. That hasn’t changed.

What has changed is that due to a mix of life scenarios, global events, and personal realities, some delays are likely. I don’t believe it’s realistic to hit the August release.

Part is current events. Trying to stay present, help friends, and respond to what’s happening beyond the screen. Because of this, I have to care for myself more strictly. My health has improved in many ways, and I’m grateful for that progress. But I’ve learned—again🙄—that no amount of weight loss, discipline, or mental growth can erase chronic conditions like fibromyalgia. My pace is different, slower than most. And that’s okay.

I’m also needing to be mindful of finances. I’ve had to cut back on a few subscriptions and creative tools, and some of my tech/supplies are beginning to show age. So I’m being more selective about what I can prioritize. It’s all part of seeking balance—doing the best I can with what I have.

Despite the 'starving artist' lifestyle, I’ve found my calling with The Mythseeker—something that works with my body and brain instead of against. This has always been something that has been something I’ve struggled with. I am so thankful for those who support me on Patreon and my art in general; y’all help cover medications to project upkeep or even just encouragement! But my boss is kind of intense. (It’s me. I’m the boss.😩)

This project is uh... a lot. No one to blame but myself, but, here we are and I'm too spiteful to stop now. It’s not just writing a book—it's failing (a lot), research, concept/developmental art, illustrations (many per chapter!), graphic design, website management, social media, lore, networking, and more. I’m doing it solo for now, and I dream of one day of hiring a small team. Until then, I have to take it one step at a time and trust the process—even if the path ahead is foggy and muddy.

I still believe stories matter—especially now. My protagonist, Shay, is autistic and trans. The cast is full of immigrants, marginalized voices, trauma survivors, and people caught in systems of power, trying to do what’s right in a world that doesn't always accept them.

The Mythseeker doesn’t shy away from grey morality, but I want to be clear: there are some things that are not political. I stand firmly for trans rights. I stand firmly against genocide, like what is happening at Gaza. And while I try to remain mindful of how I speak out and the professional considerations, I won’t pretend to be indifferent in the face of oppression. Neutrality always supports the oppressors, after all.

Also, If you’re someone who’s LGBTQ+, autistic, disabled, or just in need of safe nerdy company—I run a small, cozy(chaotic) online community. If you ever need a place to land, reach out. I’d be happy to welcome you. I also have an secret channel for the project, if you'd like to follow along (at whatever capacity). There's lots of art, prose, and plenty of memes and unhinged fun!

Thank you to everyone who’s supported this journey and story. You’re always welcome in it.

💚With love and frogs,
Susannah

P.S. I am in such deep backlog/crunch, the best drawing I have to offer is currently work-in-progresses (Patreon gets extras!!!).😂 Enjoy all the same!
