Long video is long, behind the Soulslike Scenes

Comments

I always assumed I was in a minority for _not_ having seen Les Mis (but I really enjoyed your video!). I certainly don't begrudge you making videos you want to make, although I can imagine shorter videos "perform" better when you have a diverse-r subscriber base (which, in turn, I can imagine you having because of the broad range of topics).

I really appreciate you joining the charity tier! It's great to use patreon to cover editing software or music licensing subscription costs etc and "cut down editing" here and there, but it's also great to feel like I'm doing something useful to other people as well! Looking forward to doing the 2026 donation soon!

Yeah, honestly my DS2 distaste might also be because at the time I played it, I was really trying to avoid online information. I hadn't really gotten used to the idea that it could *enhance* the experience as opposed to it just being a way to "cheat". I obviously used guides to figure out the DLC in the other games and other times I was lost, but I don't think I became fond of the community around it until I started watching Limit Breakers

Hendry

I have a lot of affection for DS1, but replaying it to get footage I was occasionally like... "good god, how did I think this was good?" when forced to back track heavily or deal with Tomb of Giants. For whatever reason, I remember the best parts of DS1 and the worst parts of DS2, but I certainly respect your judgement as well

Hendry

I like souls and any opinion is valid idk. I also just like to hear you talk about something you're excited about even if I don't know much about it. when it comes to patreon, I'm on the charity tier, so there is that but I'd also just stay because I enjoy your content, patreon is less of a content receiving thing and more of a support thing

As someone who played DS2 on release. As well as all of its dlc. I remember the early discourse of the game really shifted, when matthewmatosis released his takedown video. His criticisms really resonated with the community, and some of his points are still repeated to this day(having to kill 4 of the strongest beings in existence just to get around a knee high pile of rubble). Looking back DS2 really feels like a fever dream with all of its bizarre decisions: adaptability, level design, game feel, Nashandra. I don’t hate the game, but I agree there’s no real reason to play it if you’re new to the series. As to how we knew to lvl ADP, it was kind of tribal knowledge. You have to get ADP to 20 was repeated ALOT.

I played DS2 first, so I have a lot of affection for it. It's the only one with a real coherent story I can follow. I can understand why you would not enjoy it and I respect your judgement even if I don't share it.

Glad that you also see the overlap between your videos and Jenny Nicholson's. You're both the same type of entertainment for me.

I mean, fair...

Hendry

They could be like me where they love souls-likes, but don't love watching people criticizing their favorite things 😂

I went to three parties, two more than I really wanted to, just to get the mileage. Now I'm looking to crash some nativity pageants somehow, probably without the scythe

Hendry

Mark me down in the anecdata column for "Never played a Souls game, watched (and enjoyed) the whole video." I also loved the costume and BTS crafting vlogs! Hope you got some extra mileage out of it for Halloween.

So that's an interesting point. Do you often watch shorts and then go watch the longer video? For context, I actually tried to make shorts for a bit early on but they always got way fewer views than the actual videos. Then I saw a short in spanish of my lactose video and realized I was making them all wrong. I don't watch shorts so I don't really know how to a good one.

Hendry

Yea, What happened to you!?? Also, you know I am looking for a sci-fi writer for my video game! You can sort of advert your videos by creating a short that highlights the vid. BTW, I watch my vids very quickly... so, not sure how that affects the metrics.
