Call for Moose Bonus Facts!

A bit late to the party and not a moose fact but it is sound-related? (and I just want to share my favorite bonus-fact with the world, just for fun, so enjoy :)) Some species of bats compensate for the doppler shift by changing their call frequency when they change their speed. It gets better: they did research about it by placing a bat on (/in?) a swing (It was discovered before that in a different way but that's less fun). Interestingly, they did not compensate when swinging backwards (probably because they don't fly backwards either). I couldn't find a paper with pictures but this one does have a drawing/schematic: https://sci-hub.se/10.1016/0378-5955(82)90010-7

2025-02-06 21:02:34 +0000 UTCI scoured the internet far and wide. Consider this my official surrender in the Great Moose Fact Battle of 2025. I bow to the superior moose fact scholars who have already illuminated this majestic creature's mysteries.
