TIM'S - TOP SONGS FROM 2025 SO FAR...

1. Imminence - Death Shall Have No Dominion
2. Fallujah- In Stars We Drown
3. Spiritbox - Tsunami Sea
4. Architects - Elegy
5. Karnivool- Drone

Tim's Comment-- There have been so many albums I've been enjoying immensely this year. Some of these albums I feel like I could have picked so many different songs from each. One song I've definitely had on repeat is Imminence's 'Death Shall Have No Dominion'. I could also have chosen their other single 'God Fearing Man'- both taken off 'Return of The Black' which came out earlier this year. Definitely a band I respect a huge amount. What a fun thing it was to re-work their song 'Come What May' for this new edition of The Black as well!

JAMES

1. Rivers of Nihil - The Logical End
2. Wardruna - Dvaledraumar
3. The Amazing Lonesome Gumby - Something’s Last a While
4. Tamino - Every Dawn’s a Mountain
5. Snooze - Expectation

James' Comment
-- I haven’t been as active in listening to new music as usual, because it began to feel like I was collecting on a schedule rather than experiencing the art… So I’ve slowed down on the consumption quite a bit. That said, I still found it difficult to distill this list - but these are all tracks that struck. The Amazing Lonesome Gumby is my very good friend Sam Gelston from Boston, whose indie folk/Nick Drake/older Bruce Springsteen-inspired music seems to resonate with me a lot lately. You hear often that metal musicians don’t listen to metal anymore once it becomes their job… I still do, but I also get it. In my case, this sentiment comes from the need to balance the chaos and hyper-stimulating atmosphere of tour with serenity, of which music like “Something’s Last a While” has been my soundtrack.

TINO

1. YUNGBLUD - Hello heaven, hello
2. Rivers of Nihil - American Death
3. Igorrr - ADHD
4. Bad Bunny - NUEVAYoL
5. Jack Garratt - Higher

Tino's Comment
-- 2025 has been pretty great so far for music, not so much for the world. I’ve found solace in a few albums and one of these in particular has been the rock turn that YUNGBLUD took. The kid has one of the most powerful voices of the last years and “hello heaven, hello” is a masterpiece teaching how to keep rock alive in 2025.

BENJI

1. Emma Harner - Do it
2. Psycroptic - Architects of Exctinction
3. Perturbator & Ulver - Apocalypse Now
4. Cryptospy & Billy Strings - Blasphemy Made Flesh

Benji's Comment
-- (Do It -Emma Harner) Best song writing i've heard anywhere in a long time, actual pop music, deserves all the praise and should replace Taylor Swift immediately

MATT

1. Rivers of Nihil - The Sub-Orbital Blues
2. Psycroptic - Architects of Extinction
3. Cradle of Filth - To Live Deliciously
4. Allegaeon - Driftwood
5. Jinjer - Kafka

Matt's Comment
-- (Rivers of Nihil - The Sub-Orbital Blues) Rivers of Nihil have been one of my most listened to bands over the last few years. We have brought RON out to Australia twice as support and they have blown us away each time. Having old bud Andy Thomas on guitar and clean vocals just made it all the more intriguing for me to check out because I love his work in Black Crown Initiate so much. Biggs taking over harsh vocals seems to have been a fairly easy transition for the band too. Great work guys, full steam ahead!

DAN

1. Psycroptic - Architects of Extinction.

Dan's Comment
-- Dan's been locked away in his drum cave and hasn't been listening to new music this year, but this is his favorite song of 2025

I'm looking forward to checking out this playlist, as I haven't actually heard much from 2025 yet (which is a horrible thing to say when it's almost August already, I know). Here are a few I've been enjoying: Tim Hecker - Morning (Piano Version) Maud the Moth - Despeñaperros Darkwood - Vieil Armand Rothadás - Vértükör Andrea Ferrari - Blue Corner Some anticipated stuff: GoGo Penguin has a new album out this year that I really need to check out. An Abstract Illusion just dropped the first single from their upcoming album, and iamthemorning will have a live album out this year too. 🥰

Interesting to see what you guys listen to…..
