Clothing.

I finally took some time to learn how to sculpt clothing last night and tonight. This is my first shot at it, but it seems like I'm getting the basics.

After all, we can't have clothes ripping and tearing off during a transformation unless we first have clothes.

This is Derick, by the way, and he's been kind enough to try on a couple things and model for us. Thanks, Derick.

These images are a little shiny because they're shots from ZBrush. I can apply a fabric texture in Substance Painter afterward, and it does look decent for close-ups in a Maya render.

With a few basic shapes as starters, I should be able to come up with similar variations pretty quickly.

Unlike I might do for a game character, the clothing needs to be two-sided and have some thickness. The clothing will be skinned and have blend shapes to conform to the body and fall to the floor in a pile. You can see how it fits here.

The only issue I had during the process was getting a couple areas to have "negative thickness". Some back faces somehow get in front of the front faces, which is no good for baking maps. But it's a simple fix in ZBrush.

Okay, Derick, that's enough. We get the idea, you're a fit guy. No offense, but we would rather see how you look changing into something else.

Thanks everyone. I hope you all are having a great weekend!

I can’t wait to see your next transformation. Anything would be great but a CTF would break the internet. 🤩 Big fan here!
