Waluigi Wednesday: The End?

Friends, it's been a long, lanky road...

But I think Waluigi is ready to say farewell.

This may come as a shock to some, and it's kind of a bittersweet, earwaxy feeling for myself. But it's getting harder to come up with fresh Waluigi ideas nowadays. And honestly, the main thing is that with AI vids of character voices everywhere now, there's just not as much room for impressions, no matter how many layers of harmony we squeeze in there.

Tune in September 1st for the 13th and (probably) final Waluigi Sings song. The toothy purple blighter will be closing out his set Sinatra-style with "My Waa." Don't miss it!

I understand where you're coming from Matthew. It's smart that you're considering all these things. I just personally think that you'll eventually get big numbers regardless of the current algorithmic trends (unfortunately, I'm sure that the amount of times people will see your videos is not really predictable) and sometimes perhaps it may not even have much to do with lazy AI uploads, and maybe more to do with YouTube's other modern flaws (like the algorithm not even pushing your videos properly to some subscribers) that viewers often critique. Outside of the AI junk and YT's operating flaws, I think artists may just have periods where ideas aren't ready to grow and that's okay too. You've already been doing a lot creatively

i don't know what side of the Internet you're on but i haven't seen others using the "waluigi sings covers" as a huge market people are stealing views from with ai. i detest ai but the main issue here might be that the waluigi fandom has a niche and shrinking fanbase.

Thanks everyone for the thoughtful replies! While it's true that AI content is largely unpopular with people on an individual basis, I can't deny that the numbers are disheartening. Whether due to YouTube's weird algorithms or something else, my vids have struggled to hit 30k for a while, while AI covers can reach views 10x or 100x that or more. Like with many big decisions, it does come down to multiple factors as well. I'm a "never say never" kind of guy, but I also like to give people finality and closure on my works rather than just peter out without a trace. And of course, I'll be happy to do more Waluigi stuff at the live show and for Ocarina Tier users and the like. The funny thing is that Waluigi ended up being a sort of happy accident. The original comics were going to be a one-and-done thing but the reception was so good that I had to go back to it. Likewise, the Hallelujah Chorus was just something made for the book's Kickstarter but it likewise got such a big response that I decided to do a few more songs. I had no idea it would continue into a baker's dozen of the crazy things, but I'm glad it did. Until next time, WAAAAAAAAAAA
