Weekly Standup 55

The Ukraine conflict continues; and I'm still trying to do what I can to support Ukraine IRL; and I still urge you to do the same; and I'm still pretty demoralized by how little I can do. But also, I'm still continuing to work because otherwise I'd probably go crazy, so I should update you on how that's going. Sorry if this post is a bit messy.

The next update is going to be a bit bigger than planned and thus take a bit longer than planned. There's a lot of content I want to add, but the story isn't being pushed forward all that much.

To explain, there's a lot of stuff I'm working on that is somewhat low-return-on-investment-of-time: making Ari's skirt removable takes time, but is also a fairly exciting new feature; making Ari's jewelry/accessories removable takes a similar amount of time, but isn't a particularly exciting feature. Having these low-return-on-investment-of-time-features is entirely planned: it's a large part of what was supposed to make the interactive h-scenes fun (much like the flash games that inspired it), but I've just been able to avoid having to put the time in by picking low-hanging fruit and focusing on high-impact features.

But I've been adding a lot of new stuff. Here's what I've written for the changelog thus far (note: this is stuff that's working in-game in dev/debug mode, not all of these may be accessible in-game due to story reasons):

Added new stuff to the lying-down interactive h-scene:

This means that, including small things like the idle/hover/active variations for interactable elements, I've added a total of approx. 160 new sprites to the lying-down hscene that are now working and in the game. Some of these required entirely new features in code (eg. moving Ari's right hand requires persisting the state of moveable clothing items through all possible positions).

As a burnout avoidance measure, I'm going to take about 3 days this week off from PT and work on prototyping stuff for Euph's Next Game. Otherwise, I'm probably going to continue adding new stuff.
