In the end his approach got everyone in line, stopped them sharing their grievances over his decision, and even had them cheering when he announced the free plugin library would include 10 more plugins than initially stated. He knows what he's doing.

Those of you who decided to take this as an opportunity to fight here in the verbal polls and not in the post I allowed you to told me one thing: You aren't serious about the future of the community as I am with this as you've shown yourselves to be more invested in taking your brand of chaos and sprinkling it about and ruining it for everybody else." That is a shit take, my dear sir, a very shit take. You are taking away the wrong takeaway from this. Want some better takeaways to take away? a) You are not the boss of your Patrons. b) You are not the boss of your Patrons. c) You are not the boss of your Patrons. d) These people--whom you accuse of sewing chaos--are deeply invested in your work and its final dispensation to an extent I could scarcely hope to ever achieve. They are passionate about what you do. They care. And yes, perhaps like most people that care about something they are not acting in a rational manner. But that is precisely BECAUSE they care. e) To a lot of people, 150+ of your plugins getting paywalled is a very, very big fucking deal, and they don't particularly care to engage in a discussion of or vote for what the 30th plugin to NOT get paywalled is when they are still either desperately trying to convince you to change your mind about the 150 others, or (increasingly misguidedly, in my opinion) finding ways to defend your behavior and decisions. f) You are not the boss of your Patrons. g) You are not the boss of your Patrons. Your free stuff has directly improved my quality of life for a decade now (recently I was going through some old folders and found a TON of KGC scripts for VX and I was scratching my head going KGC, KGC, why do I remember that name, then snapped my fingers, remembered: "oh, right, KGC was like Yanfly before Yanfly") by letting me make better games. This wins you a lot of good will with I've got to say that your current behavior is blowing through that accumulated goodwill fast. Your Patrons are your supporters, not your enemies. You deserve to be paid a living wage for your work because as previously mentioned it is of professional quality as well as in demand. No one is entitled to use your work for free. But your Patrons, at least the vast majority of us, are ON YOUR SIDE. And from where I am sitting, it is very obvious that you are still operating from a place of emotion, specifically outrage. I have allowed my outrage to make my decisions for me in the past and I have always regretted it. Paywalling a hundred and fifty previously free plugins is a nuclear option, and you have to know that. Personally all I want is for you to take a deep breath and seriously consider less extreme measures. You went from 0 to Defcon 1 very quickly here. "Thank you for your cooperation." is what cops say when they're done giving you a ticket. "...to fight here in the verbal polls and NOT IN THE POST I ALLOWED YOU TO..." makes you sound like some kind of tin pot third world dictator. Neither one is a good look for you, Yanfly. I already have all your plugins, so I have no stake as far as that's concerned, and I'm going to continue supporting your Patreon at some level either way unless I go completely flat broke and wind up homeless on the street because I feel like I owe you for years and years and years and three engine generations worth of scripts, so I have no stake as far as that's concerned either. But I see you acting out of emotion and making decisions that will alienate a lot of people, and not just the fucking garbage people and freeloaders and ingrates that you understandably WANT to alienate.
