September Update

Hey everyone! Tomorrow is the first day of October (today for some of you) which means my accidental streak of having a video out in every month since April has ended. Early this month I was busy with a bunch of stuff, but I'm at the point now that I can dedicate more time to the new video. 

It's Splatoon, by the way! I've now played through the campaigns of every Splatoon game three times, and I'm going to play even more of them because some of my OBS recordings randomly failed. And I am pretty sure I lost my Wii U save files years ago so Splatoon 1 might need some more playing for footage. All of that is ultimately the easiest part though. I've started working on the most consuming part which is planning and writing the script. 

If nothing changes between now and recording time, the video is going to cover the whole trilogy, mostly focusing on Splatoon 3 (sorta similar to the Xenoblade video). The current title is "You're an Adult now," referencing the infamous "You're a kid now, you're a squid now!" song used in the marketing for the first game.

Here's the final thumbnail! I tried a bunch of designs and this is most likely the one that will stay. 

I want to talk in-depth about the design, style, and impact of Splatoon because it is the only Nintendo series that I feel like I watched grow up alongside myself and have a thorough understanding of everything within it. I was a teenager during Splatoon 1, and during Splatoon 3, I am no longer a teenager--crazy! Because of this, its contents will be a little bit more personal than the topics I've touched previously. 

My intention for the channel has always been to cover a variety of games, but most of my recent videos have been about JRPGs, so I'm expecting this one to not perform as well. That's okay though! I didn't expect to pass 10,000 subs, like, at all. So the point I'm at is already much beyond what I could have hoped. I don't want to ever let the thought "That video wouldn't perform well" impact what I create, and I will continue to live by that standard. Thankfully, I have you brilliant patrons to add sustainability to the channel, and if it continues to grow at a similar rate, I can see a future where I can dedicate way more time to ConstantlyCaden. 

Along those lines, I've been offered a very good amount of money from Raid Shadow Legends for a sponsorship. They offered it last month too, but I declined because of the theme of that video. They upped the amount, and it's getting hard to justify not taking thousands of dollars just because of creative integrity. I don't think I will let a sponsor touch this video, but someday I might have to, so I hope viewers will understand and just avert their eyes! If I get an offer from something less grimy than Raid Shadow Legends for a similar amount, I will probably take it for the video after, which will probably be about Platinum Games and Bayonetta 3. 

The NieR: Replicant video is also still being chipped away at! I think I said somewhere that I was planning on it this year, but I'm not seeing where it would fit into the schedule. So for now, my best estimate is Spring 2023. It's going to be the most time consuming production by a wide margin, because it has to be the best. 

Because I'm close to rambling at this point, I'll add two more things:

1) NieR: Automata End of YorHa edition is about to release on Switch. I am really excited for that. 

2) If you like my videos and are not following Tim Rogers' work at his channel 'Action Button,' he recently dropped a new video. I'd probably call it my favorite video on all of YouTube. Do yourself a favor and go work your way through his backlog if you are looking for some of the best video game content available! (Even more unrelated, but he mentioned in the video that his Season 2 is going to end with Earthbound. My plan for my content's season was to end with Earthbound too! I don't want to be a cheap copy, so I will maybe need to change some things around.)
