More yellow powder tests

Hi all, just a larger scale test of the yellow powder mixture, with some footage at 31000fps. Very excited to see a shockwave in the footage! Wasn't expecting to see it so clearly in broad daylight, but its certainly there.
I read your comments on the previous post about the low-res footage, and people didn't seem to mind the low quality, so I probably wont do any more upscaling, especially on the super low res stuff where the upscaling has very little to work with. This footage is 320x120pixels, but we're going to embrace the low quality grainyness!

Beautiful video! I think it might especially apply to those of us who worked with high-speed footage, but it just looks _right_ in its original low-res form.

haha maybe i'm just enjoying destroying it

Explosions&Fire

oh that's a great thought- thanks!

Please try to do that editing trick of duplicating the footage and offsetting by 5 frames and then turning on "show change" to give us some really pretty shockwave footage

Oh wow, that is some beautiful slow mo! Could it be that you're actually enjoying something... yellow?!

Thanks mate! It's fun to do these high ~30,000fps shots. Even though the camera is the cheapest Kronos 1.4 model, the more expensive KronTech cameras can't shoot this fast. They give better resolution at lower speeds, and they're launching a new model that can do nearly 5000fps at 1080p (mine gets 1000fps at that resolution) but there must be a limitation for the read-out electronics to handle the higher quality data, because at this 320x120p resolution, my camera does 30,000fps and the other models barely get 20,000fps, if they do it at all. So for this speed, its amazing that you either use this exact camera model, or you're looking at spending 10s of thousands of dollars to get a top of the line high speed camera. So I should take advantage of it!

Hell yeah. I agree, I definitely don't mind the low res stuff. Like, I also like seeing things in higher res and faster frame rates, but that slow shot is crucial, no matter the resolution. Your video on perchloric acid on hot bismuth does it perfectly imo. Seeing the explosion progress across the surface of the bismuth at the end of that video was *chef's kiss* Edit: having watched the clip, yeah, this is good shit. Awesome shot!
