Before you update
Make sure to back up your config and project files stored in your user folder before installing this update. Changes to these files will make the downgrade to a previous version impossible without manually restoring these from a backup!
Also, if you're using the Resolve API on Windows, please update your installations Python 3.11 to keep the connection to Resolve running. We did receive some reports from users of the git version that the API is not working as expected despite the python update, but things work fine on our end.
As always, the standalones were only tested in our editing room, so do report anything weird! As much as possible, please use GitHub issues and include the app.log and all the relevant info asked in the Bug report form.
A big thank you!
Thanks again for your support and for your patience, this means a lot!
This particular version was difficult to compile because of the upgrade to Python 3.11 which meant that we had to change the compilation pipeline and go through hundreds of dependencies manually again to make it work. Probably easy for software engineers, but not for filmmakers that happen to know how to code...
Comments
The latest update is back to NOT working again. I really don't know why. It's just not consistent. Buttons don't work.

2025-03-18 05:54:02 +0000 UTCCould you help me understand how indexing video fits into a video editing workflow? I’m using davinci and trying to figure out how it works together.

2025-03-06 01:13:48 +0000 UTCi also changed the filename to one word, but then tried another file with a more complicated name both worked

2025-02-21 08:07:48 +0000 UTCNow it seems to be working. I deleted it and re-installed. I didn't do anything else differently. SRT was already in the settings. So it carried over into the new install.

2025-02-21 07:58:33 +0000 UTCThis version does not work for me right now. M2 Macbook Pro. Pressing 'start' does not work. Queue is empty. Adding 'srt' to the ingest options in Settings does not work and there appears to be no option in-the-job to turn on 'srt' export either.

2025-02-21 07:31:30 +0000 UTCGo to Preferences -> Ingest -> Auto-Save Additional Formats and type in srt More info here: https://github.com/octimot/StoryToolkitAI/blob/main/FEATURES.md#exporting-transcripts-as-fusion-text You can also do this on a job by job basis from the Ingest window. Changing of the default exports was intentional since a lot of users were complainint that the tool was creating too many files. BTW, you can now also compose your own custom export templates: https://github.com/octimot/StoryToolkitAI/blob/main/FEATURES.md#exporting-using-custom-transcription-export-templates

2025-02-21 06:57:53 +0000 UTCI'm an M2 macbook pro user, and this latest release is not creating SRT files. Just JSON.

2025-02-21 06:52:35 +0000 UTCSure! Check your DMs, we need some more info! Quick note: the tool comes with its own version of Python. You only need to install Python if you want to connect the tool with Resolve Studio.

2025-02-21 06:52:32 +0000 UTCI've just installed the Windows CUDA version, but the app doesn't seem to run. It opens for a split second then just closes again, no errors or anything. I've also tried running in admin mode, but no luck. I've also installed Python 3.11.0 specifically, but still the same thing. This is my very first version of StoryToolkitAI, so I don't think it's due to upgrading issues. Reinstalling doesn't help either. Could you please help me?
