Finding Alternatives To Crowdcast

Hey there lovelies. As many of you know, Crowdcast's pricing has gone from $45 a month for unlimited hours to $195 for a maximum of 50 hours a month (on average, I record about 55 live hours a month). Initially I was willing to deal with the cost because I can't find another service that does what they do the WAY they do it, and I already have so much content tied in with their platform that losing most or all of it was a bummer.

However, there have been a lot of other issues with Crowdcast lately that make the MASSIVE price increase feel totally unjustified. Some of my broadcasts don't show in "upcoming" or "On Air", there have been lots of bugs with viewers accession the chat or even just getting into the correct rooms, and many more issues on my end as a creator that make scheduling a huge headache.

I am really considering moving to a different platform. YouTube is suggested often but I'm extremely gun-shy after they came within a hair of completely shutting my channel down last year due to false claims I was recording illegal audiobooks.

The issue I keep running into is that most services that provide live-streaming do not store recordings for later viewing. People can join while we're on the air, but once the event is over the only recording is what I download and edit, which would be sound.

My question to you all, ESPECIALLY those of you who commission Spoil Me! episodes or have access to patrons-only livestreams, is this: how much does it matter to you that old lives are available to view? Do you go back and watch them, or do you just wait for the audio to come out?

If it seems like the vast majority of you don't go into the old episodes it would open up a lot more options for me as a creator, but I want to be sure it wouldn't be a dealbreaker for you folks. Please let me know below!

Leave crowdcast. Save the money.Audio only is ok.

I tended to only watch the crowdcast version of something if it's like a live reading of something you're covering, and i wanted to see the facial reaction of the unspoiled person to what was happening in the story. or to watch it bc the audio version wasn't up yet. otherwise i stuck to the audio version.

I watch them live, but if I have to miss it because of work or a class, I watch the video recording as soon as I can, within a day or two. Maybe something would work that keeps the video for a brief time? But, I can also wait for the audio.

I used to watch the lives more, and rewatch them, but lately I just wait for the audio to be posted and listen to that instead. I find that with watching them I'm tied to my computer or if I play it on my phone I can't do anything else with my phone. As I enjoy playing games or walking while listening to podcasts, this makes things more difficult. While I love that the old lives are there to watch if I want to, I wouldn't be upset if that function was removed, as long as the audio is still available.
