Creality 32 bit mainboard guide preview

As I started to make the requested Ender 3 V2 BLtouch guide this week, it became clear there is a lot of confusion over the new Creality V4 32 bit boards (for me too). Creality have actually started shipping Ender 3s with this as standard recently, and there is also a silent V4.2.7 board available as an upgrade (you will get this even if you try to order an 8 bit silent board). To clear things up I spoke to my contact at Creality to make sure all of the details are correct in this video.
I know some of you have recently received the V4 board and are struggling with firmware, so here is a preview of the video that will be out next. The final video will add instructions for BLtouch, filament runout and explain why linear advance isn't compatible with this board.

I was desperate as I wanted to try 😝 lesson learned, I will wait until my laptop comes back before I compile this myself. I want it to probe more in the middle, and I've figured out I can safely travel 248mm on x without crashing if I can implement that somehow too, so it gets more of the right side of the bed. But that will probably do more harm then good. Edit: now I've found out just chucking the bltouch cable in is wrong. So I probably fried something in the bltouch port. Like on the page ground and volt is switched. So whatever I smelled is probably broken. But it works with stock firmware and the adapter in the screen port. So no real damage done.

2020-09-10 08:19:27 +0000 UTCThat's great info. I just installed bltouch v3.1 yesterday and most likely I damaged something on the board. My laptop is sent for repair so I didn't have all the documents I made ready for the install. Stupid as I was I followed this guide: https://redd.it/i852fw which was stupid and resulted in a burnt smell. I then disconnected the bltouch and checked if it still worked, and it did. So I put in the adapter between the screen and put the other cable in the zstop sensor. And now everything works fine. I got no idea what the smell is from, but I will change the board for a skr mini e3 v2 soon anyways.

2020-09-10 05:25:20 +0000 UTCCreality do have 32bit firmware without BL touch - but it's confusing because you have to go to their store website (https://www.creality3dofficial.com/) and click on Support | Firmware. Unfortunately they don't seem to have the source code available yet (at least I couldn't find it - their github page is a bit of a mess).
