Ender 3 V2 vs BIQU B1

Dear Patrons,

The Ender 3 V2 has finally arrived, and I'll be testing it against the BIQU B1, which is like an Ender 3 clone with BTT upgrades already fitted. Expect a first impressions video in the next week or so with a full side by side review at a later date. If there is anything specific you want to know please comment below.

I'm also going to be on a family trip from Monday to Wednesday, which means the next video might be a day behind in the having the correct names in the ending credits. My apologies if you join after I upload the video and are not featured.

The Partners hangout will also be pushed back from Tuesday to Thursday. Details will appear in the Discourse forum.

The next video is a Marlin firmware editing guide for beginners. This has been requested by a few of you so I'm happy to oblige.

I hope everyone in the Northern hemisphere is enjoying summer and every in the Southern hemisphere is keeping warm! Thanks always for your generous support, I have a most amazing job these days and a large part of that is thanks to all of you.

Michael

Ender 3 V2 vs BIQU B1

Comments

Hi Michael, Not a problem and thanks for finding some time to comeback with another reply I appreciate it :)

TMC2208s and TMC2209s can both do linear advance when connected in UART/smart mode (which is probably what you have done). I've never tried to run 2209s in standalone mode so I don't have a solid answer.

My reply stuffed up yesterday so let's try v2:

ahi I have just seen the second video. On the video you mentioned something I was unaware of, the tmc2208 are not compatible with linear advance when working on standalone mode. I must ask, is it the same case with the tmc2209? Does linear advance require of uart mode when working with these drivers? Not that is a problem as i currently have linear advance disabled but it is interesting if at somepoint I come across this situation As always, thank you for your comments

As the V2 should come with a 32bit board, update won't be via USB like an Ender 3 v1. Instead you need Klipper to generate a firmware binary to put on the SD card.

Teaching Tech

Ive spent now a week trying to install Klipper on Ender 3 V2. I think I have all the info correct but as the V2 is flashed without a bootloader I keep getting dfu-util: invalid signature error

You skills are probably beyond what was in the guide. Very unpopular video on launch but over time I hope it becomes helpful for people. The beginner Ender 3 video was the same.

I too am looking forward to the editing guide. I'm not a beginner but I am between using Arduino and VSCode. I haven't had a chance to learn any new methods so I can't wait for that video. Thank you Michael!
