Background Characters v0.2.0-alpha : Procedural Crowd Generation

This SKSE plugin adds procedural crowds to Skyrim.

I named this mod "Background Characters" because of the flavor this procedural generation system provides.

Every background NPC uses procedural generation for the following:

Requirements:

Install:

  1. Install with mod manager.

  2. Enable mod

  3. Enable ESP-FE plugin

  4. Done.

Ini file has configurable crowd density settings.

Safe to install/uninstall mid playthrough (see announcement post "On Saves" section and keep a backup just in case).

Please keep in mind this is a very WIP alpha release; if you have any bugs or crashes that you would like to see fixed, please post a comment or message me on discord Mod Forge server in the bug reports channel (preferred).

Really enjoy all your mods! I've been using a similar mod called Crowded Streets: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/127723 , which also dynamically generates background NPCs and they get deleted when you leave the area. Are there any stand out differences between your Background Characters and Crowded Streets? Would there be an option for NPCs to have real names? One thing I didn't love about Crowded Streets were NPC having names name "Peasant" or "Hunter".

Seems like a bug with hair physics! I'll look into it!

Lots of exploding hair textures when using Vanilla Hair Remake. I'm not sure if this is due to the amount of actors or not, nor am I positive this is on your end. I'll report back if I can figure anything out!

Make sure you have Actor Limit Fix installed! I've had this happen occasionally when the crowd density is very high, it is probably an engine limitation but I'll look into it more.

The error I have is some characters are stuck in forward walking pose not moving and they are able to be walked through. amazing mod nonetheless!
