Vince Gilligan has said in an interview that the wait will be about 2 years until season 2, because they haven’t even started writing it yet and he works slower these days. This is a huge frustration with streaming shows these days.
Great reactions as always. Hope you have a great new years.

I saw a Reddit comment that said it looked like Manousos was trying to perform an exorcism when he induced the "others" to have seizures by screaming.
This makes sense considering that Manousos is catholic and probably believes in demons.

I find myself frequently being lulled into a sense of "the hive mind is straight forward with their intentions" every time, but in retrospect it's hard not to believe that they are being intentionally manipulative in the most non-confrontational way possible lol but ultimately, yes, it all just feels so empty.
I'm very curious to see what direction(s) Season 2 will take us in! In the meantime, I plan on reacting to the twilight zone episode that inspired the show (in addition to reading some Wycaro)

I can certainly appreciate it as well, though I will admit that I'm a sucker for a good 'ole puzzle box XD

I LOVE that this show isn’t another puzzle box mystery like so many recent sci-fi stories. There’s not much being hidden from us, the questions are more about how our characters will interact, what will happen, who will win and how will it all shake out? The cards are on the table!

This was a great finale to a really impressive season.
I love how Carol and Manousos butted heads. They’re both strong personalities who think they’re the main character of this story. The “last man on earth” but there’s two of them. 😅

That opening scene is so heartbreaking, an entire culture annihilated in an instant.

Plus… something for the future.. is it possible to obtain those stem cells from spine cells? I mean, Manousos was treated for his back and operated on, what if the hive sneakily took what it needed of him too? 🤔

MM101: Thanks for embracing this show so early on before any of us knew its quality. Loved your reactions!
The thoughts foremost on my mind after the finale then watching your reaction to Episode 8 "Charm Offensive" yesterday are as follows:
1. The play acting of rebuilding that diner, displacing that waitress, etc. all to "bring a happy memory" to Carol was already disturbing to me b/c of the level of manipulation involved. And after seeing the cold open with Kusimaya and the tribe of her people (the joined) basically putting on a show for her through their culture and customs only to immediately cease what is probably the heart of a people who lived there for centuries. Absolute silence when Kusimaya becomes joined. Not one look back at the goat crying for affection and love. It is so disturbing to me -- in ways that I struggle to even find the words to describe. It made me even angrier about the diner b/c you can see how the joined with Kusimaya who "love her" simply faked everything "to make her happy" until the humanity was taken out of her to be part of this collective of EMPTINESS. Is pretense a form of "love"? I'm not buying it.
2. I AM LIVID THAT THEY TOOK CAROL'S EGGS. So, I'm one of the commenters that called the egg/stem cell story line early on. Therefore, coming back to that topic is not surprising to me. What SHOOK ME was learning they already took possession of them and they are already trying to manipulate her genetic code so they can force her to join against her will to make her "oh so happy." And Zosia saying, "I love you"???? after saying they love Carol and Manousos equally. F all the way off. Honestly, this all makes me so angry I can feel it in my body. It's the violation, I think.
3. I've been interested in the Zosia element of the story, and I think most of us have always felt that it was, on some level, psychological manipulation to coerce Carol into compliance. But knowing that about the eggs now??!! That changed my views totally. Now, I am certain Zosia/Hive Mind were orchestrating every single step of the Carol/Zosia interactions. Again, we suspected some of it, but I was hoping, I suppose, that some of what they were doing was out of genuine care for Carol. At this point? You cannot convince me that the hive mind loves anyone or anything. I'm with Manousos: they are evil.
4. "Atom Bomb." CRAZY WORK! LOVED IT. Also, I love seeing Carol in black ready to fight the "weirdos."
5. Once Zosia started talking about other planets and the Keppler B world, etc., it took me back to the Twilight Zone episode that Gilligan said was one of the many inspirations for this show. Here's an article for anyone interested: https://www.dexerto.com/tv-movies/why-is-carol-sturkas-name-important-in-pluribus-chilling-twilight-zone-connection-explained-3286599/. An interesting read.

I can explain myself now. The painting is called Belladonna, and it alludes to the charm offensive episode: beautiful and deadly.
The Kusumayu scene, for me, is both perfect and petrifying. They are staging a kind of theatre to coerce her, to keep her content. The community, the culture, the singing — all of it “dies” the moment she converts. The goat breaks my heart: Where’s my person? Hey, don’t leave me. And this is a community that is doing nothing wrong — living high in the mountains, peacefully, posing no threat, simply keeping a centuries-old culture alive. So the slogan they preach “you’ll be happier once you’re with us — no war, no evil” doesn’t work on them at all.
Lastly, Carol and Manusos not getting along and behaving like two stubborn burros is both funny and completely understandable. They’re two immovable objects with ferocious wills. But to me, Carol has always been — yes, rude — yet she consistently shows heart and compassion (even if unwillingly). They reached her through her need to be accepted exactly as she is: the drinking, the bad temper, the ego — all of it.
Thank you for the ride! it was a wonderful watch and just sad we have to wait until maybe 2028 to see what’s next! 😋

the way zosia imparted info about manousos to carol was so manipulative lol. implying that he's violent towards the plurbs when the most violent thing he's ever done was hold a knife to that doctor in the hospital and he didn't actually hurt him; saying "long story" instead of explaining anything of value to do with the sheer effort he put into travelling to her OR even little things like the way he's been paying for everything as he travelled.
also the bit in the ski lodge where zosia says "we have to do this because we love you"... just imagine how many times carol heard that in her childhood as someone who experienced conversion therapy. yikes. shows how conditional zosia/the plurbs' approach to tact is because there's no way they don't know about that via helen.
lol

Someone reminded me that one of the unaffected is an 8 year old. I'm guessing that child has also been converted with the stem cell approach since they'll do what "mum and dad" think is best.
