Dealing with Pre-game Nervousness – Sly Flourish Patreon Podcast

Here's our latest episode of Readings and Reflections with Sly Flourish in which we discuss the article "Dealing with Pre-game Nervousness".

I went to this older article since I already talked about this week's article, "My Favorite TTRPG Products of 2023", on a previous episode of the Lazy RPG Talk Show.

You can listen to it here, on your own exclusive Sly Flourish podcast feed on your favorite podcast app, or listen to this exclusive podcast on Spotify by connecting your Spotify account to Patreon.

Keep rolling those 20s!

A great episode! I've DM'ed since the 1980's and still get nervous before every session. So good to hear that others experience it too.

For the record, my number 2 tip for preventing pre-game nervousness descending into anxiety is visualisation. In the time preceding your session, as you are falling asleep, play the scenarios out in your mind. By telling yourself the story, with your players characters front and centre, you can allow your brain to witness multiple events and solutions with the luxury of a mental undo button. (Number 1 tip is hugging dogs for half an hour before the session.)
