Top Tweets
- "I’m becoming a fan of downtime scenes in my #dnd games. If the players are aware they’re coming up and have a chance to review downtime activities in the PhB and XGtE they can really have a chance to fill out their characters’ life. It’s a whole different kind of D&D scene."
- "#dnd tip: Nothing beats a body washing up on shore to start a mystery."
- "#dnd tip: Before you plan out your campaign, talk to your players and make sure its the sort of campaign people want to play. Do this even BEFORE a session zero (session negative one?)"
- "#dnd tip: Add magic items that fit the backgrounds and desires of the characters. Let's face it, Sting was made for Bilbo."
- "I love fancy #dnd stuff. I love Dwarven Forge. I love Beadle and Grimm. I love Wyrmwood dicetrays. I love miniatures. We can have almost as much fun with hardly anything at all. The best #dnd accessories are the brains around the table. Think how valuable those are."
What Has My Attention?
I am very excited for the release of the D&D Essentials Kit. It's an amazing value and a great on-ramp for D&D. Not only do you get a 1st to 6th level adventure in the box but a code inside the box lets you unlock three more adventures that take you all the way to 13th level. It's an awesome package.
I'm also really looking forward to the upcoming Eberron Campaign Setting book, Rising from the Last War. Jeremy Crawford described a summary of the book's contents and it looks packed with awesome stuff. I'll probably be running this for my home group when we're done with Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
I'm really interested to see Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus. My home group just finished a really dark Shadow of the Demon Lord campaign so we'll probably give it a miss but I'm hoping to run it for my Sunday game so we'll see.
With Ghosts of Saltmarsh, the Acquisitions Incorporated book, the Essentials Kit, Descent into Avernus, and the Eberron campaign book; it's been a hell of a year for D&D.
Beyond first-party releases like those above, I find Kickstarter to be the best platform for innovative RPG products. Right now I'm backing four active Kickstarter projects: The Wyrmwood Hero Vault 2.0, the Grim Hollow Campaign Guide, The Lost City of Gaxmoor, and Numenera, Liminal Shores. If you've found other exciting Kickstarters, mention them in the comments.
Thank you all once again for your patronage of the Sly Flourish empire!
