Plush size preference
Added 2025-02-17 18:09:59 +0000 UTChey all! i'd like to get your opinion on the general size you prefer your plushies - whether it be as a collector or maker! do you like to make or collect smaller plushies or larger plushies?
while i can't make every plush pattern i design fall in this range, it'd be good for me to know what people like; i tend to make everything on the larger size, but maybe that doesn't meet the majority of peoples' preferences! i imagine many people will say "it depends!" which is fine too (and i agree)! i'd like to hear your thoughts in the comments.
another answer may be "offer your patterns in multiple sizes" and at this time, this is not something i can do; it's very difficult for me to produce my patterns monthly in a single size, so i do not have the capacity to do this.
thank you!

Medium and small would be awesome!

2025-02-21 19:50:03 +0000 UTCThank you! I have to be careful with ITH designs because a lot of people don't have embroidery machines! Are any of my previous patterns the level of simplicity you're looking for? Which ones?

2025-02-20 17:53:57 +0000 UTCMedium and Large are the sizes I love working with! medium is perfect to display or bring along on a trip, and large is awesome for cuddling and it’s a better use for longer fur pile fabric

2025-02-18 23:47:58 +0000 UTCI think medium to large is my favorite cause it feels like that's a niche I don't see a lot of, but I think you've picked good sizes for the patterns you've done! I kinda consider your plushies to be a statement piece among the collected smaller plushies I do. I wouldn't make multiple of a lot of them, but I like the ones I make. I follow some people for ITH, and some who make medium plushies, but there's not a lot of people making the larger or extra large plushies. I think a healthy mix of the pattern sizes is great tho! I'm definitely impressed with the floppy cat, the lion cub, and the cat in the boxes, and they're all great examples of what I consider three different sizes. Some of it is determined by the poll anyway, and I think you match things up pretty well. I think your large plushies should definitely stay in rotation every now and then when the subject calls for it, but I trust your judgement on what matching subject to size!

2025-02-18 16:18:11 +0000 UTCmakes sense! i'm limited by legal size paper for my sublimation printer. i can't see myself ever offering sublimation patterns because it is so subjective to everyone's setup but its a good thing to keep in mind for those who may sublimate my patterns!

2025-02-18 14:46:58 +0000 UTCIt really depends on the design! Some of them I want to be big and huggable, other ones are perfect being small cute little pocket buddies, and I love having a range to choose from. I have an 11 x 17 printer, so when I do encounter a smaller one I want to size up, I can generally go up a bit by using the larger print size; for really big ones it's nice to have print shop scaled options that I can take over there to get printed without all the tiling and taping too.

2025-02-18 00:17:52 +0000 UTCAs a collector, I see so many great plushies, but majority of the time, they're waaaaay to big. They take up too much space, cost much more, and basically reduce the amount of plushies that I can collect overall. So i tend to only buy plushies that are smaller than 6 or 8 inches tall. The only time I will buy a large plush, is when I have the space, it's super fluffy or floppy and huggable, BUT is also very affordable.

2025-02-17 20:21:02 +0000 UTCI ALWAYS love an opportunity to make an ith pattern because I learn so much about embroidery from them, but I simply don't have the space to keep collecting big buddies, so I prefer making small-medium plushies 😅 I feel like most of your plushies can be scaled up or down without any issues though!

2025-02-17 20:20:31 +0000 UTCI absolutely love medium or bigger because the bigger the plushie is the more space to cuddle it Hehehehe

2025-02-17 19:55:01 +0000 UTCI think you always choose the fitting size for the poll-winner, and what wins lies in our all hands, so if we always smash the buttons for the „large“, „chonky“ and „big“ ones, than large, chonky and big they are 😅

2025-02-17 19:52:18 +0000 UTCFor anyone reading this, I have a FedEx print shop near me and bringing the pattern to print on TABLOID size essentially doubles the plushie size❤️

2025-02-17 19:42:52 +0000 UTCI definitely prefer medium or smaller, simply because I can make a pattern larger but it's a lot harder to make it smaller!

2025-02-17 18:51:13 +0000 UTCAlso personally anything that has a sublimation option I like my pieces to be standard letter paper size or bigger. My printer can print slightly bigger and there's always the tile method. But both of those are a lot of work to set up and get to print right. It's much easier if pieces can work with standard letter size paper. And definitely at the very least I never want sublimation pieces bigger than 15"x15" because that's the size of my heat press which is pretty standard cheap heat press sizing

2025-02-17 18:32:13 +0000 UTCFor me, I tend to work in medium to small sizes (and even micro sizes), but sometimes I find that some designs work better as a large or extra large plush, but these are more of a rare exception (and you can always size a pattern up if need be)

2025-02-17 18:31:18 +0000 UTCI feel like the one thing for me it depends on is complexity of the design. I prefer probably medium size. Especially because patreon patterns are usually getting thrown in on top of my list of existing projects for fun. So slightly smaller makes them more achievable time wise. However if it's a complex pattern, larger size just makes it easier to make more complex parts then tiny finicky things. I do in general prefer for simple patterns though on patreon just because like I said they're usually added into a full schedule as personal projects I want to do, so the more simple and quick the better. It also depends on the size of the pieces in a pattern though. I'll be real if any one pattern piece is bigger than my 18"x24" cutting mat I'm 100% out and not making it. It's too much work if I can't use the cutting mat and exacto knife on faux fur.

2025-02-17 18:14:54 +0000 UTCFor example I’d probably make the chonky chicken at a smaller scale so he fits on my desk but the floppy big cat definitely needs to be large and cuddly!

2025-02-17 18:14:06 +0000 UTCDepends what it is! I like larger sizes(12”+) for floppy/cuddly types but smaller for more “decorative” plushies (6”)
