Don't apologize!! I completely understand how you feel, i was ranting all day long on Tuesday, my experience was also very frustrating but it didnt last nearly as long as yours has!! It's just unreal!

Even for me when i got selected for a group, they made us come back 2.5 hours later to break for "lunch". And they sit and tell you all day how they're trying to be respectful of your time 🤪 i also decided that the next time I'm getting a jury summons.. well I'm just not "getting" it in the mail 🤣

2024-01-04 05:06:08 +0000 UTCWe finally had to go to our jury duty summons from when we were originally scheduled back on August 1st. Had been rescued 11 times until today 🙃 and one of the security guards basically told some of us that the judge is an ass. And instead of just calling a could groups of jurors pools in he made ALL of the jury pools come in so it was a shit show and way too many people that. Not everyone could even fit in the courtroom. So of course neither my husband nor myself were selected for questioning. Then they said “ok keep up to date on when the next date to come in is.” Which as of right now is next Monday the 8th. Aka my birthday 🙃 we have plans to go visit my parents that day as I do every year and they’re two hours away from us so it’s a whole day trip. The juror handbook that we were sent says “by law a person summoned to jury service is required to be available for 30 court days.” But fails to specify anywhere what a court day is or where to go to find the info if it’s county specific or something. So I’m like ok well can I use this as my reason to not go in? I mean we were originally scheduled in August and I KNOW they’ve had to have had court hearings since then lmao. So like does it meet the “30 court day” requirement for my state?? Idk 🤪 I’d call our courthouse the ask but every time I’ve called and talked to someone they’ve been very rude and I know they’d just tell me some bs to make it sound like I have to come in bc well I’m the one asking the question and don’t know any better (and tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t either around here) So yea. But my husband and I both were like yea we’re not going on Monday 🙃 there was already a ton of people that weren’t there today and the courtroom was overflowing! So… don’t think they’ll miss us too much 🤪 if so then I’ll quote the handbook and if they try to tell me it hasn’t been 30 court days somehow, I’ll ask how I’m supposed to know when it doesn’t specify? 🥲 I tried to search on Google to see if there was a state or local government document that defined what a court day was but it was no help It’s been nothing but a pain in our ass tbh. Can’t keep expecting us to continuously make plans around this stuff when we don’t even know for sure if we’ll have to show up or not!

2024-01-02 23:57:58 +0000 UTCOmg one month that is my nightmare!! 💀I'm sure the trial itself is interesting i just hate the juror selection process so much!! They could make it so much better! I've been summoned 3 times now and I'm not that old!! And so many people never get called. It would be so much better if they had it like, everyone serves every X years and then you get to choose a time frame when you could get called instead of "winning" this crappy lotto system 🥲🥲 today was bad too bc the judge said in the morning you have a low chance of being selected because of the number of cases and ofc i knew I would get picked and i did!! I was in the last group and everyone afterward got sent home 🥲🥲 it would have been a criminal case and thankfully only would have been 1 day. But it was such a waste of time in so many ways!! Awful for self employed people too they only pay you $15/day, so much less than minimum wage 🥲

2024-01-02 22:31:40 +0000 UTCI just finished my jury duty; I ended up picked for the grand jury instead of just jury duty and it was frankly very interesting! But normal jury duty I'm sure is dependent completely on the case. Glad you got off! Do you have to go back for another trial or was it one and done? (Mine would've been for a month, and grand jury was once a week for three months)
