My viking topaz 50 gave me nothing but issues since i got it - tension problems, problems with it shredding every type of thread i gave it, etc. I heard that the this is a somewhat common issue with the topaz and since I'm a full time seamstress, it made my life more stressful than it should. Now apparently the models above the topaz dont have the same issues. I was looking into the sapphire 85, but a friend recommended to look into epic 2s since the epic 3 just came out and they'll be phased out.
I happened to call my dealer today and ask and they had an open box one that i got a crazy good deal on! So, fingers crossed that i dont struggle with this machine π€£

It feels like a total shot in the dark tbh!! Singer used to be good but then went to crap when everything became motorized. I felt like i could always buy a brother machine and it was good. But changing brands has been tough! I heard good things about the topaz but also someone had to go through several before they got a "good" one and my dealer was not nice enough to even entertain the idea, nor would i want to do something like that tbh π i don't know much about janome though!

2023-11-30 21:38:50 +0000 UTCyep, i was able to trade it up since it has been less than a year since i purchased it (although it was close - 2 weeks away!). originally they said i would get 100% of the value towards a new machine but i only got 50% of what i paid... but they were doing some shady salesman stuff, it was like 100% off towards the MSRP value OR 50% off towards the sale price, i really don't understand what it was but π€·ββοΈ buying sewing machines is like buying cars lmao
