My valentines day shop update was earlier today - thank you to everyone who supported me!! My new shop handled things wonderfully today, I'm so relieved!
The first day of fulfillment is always scenting and hand sewing the dittos. Since i allow my customers to choose a scent option, i dont lock in a certain number as scented or unscented. This means i have to wait until all orders to come in to finish hand sewing all plush. I do pre-scent about 25% and finish another 25% as unscented, but i have to finish the rest up after orders. This definitely makes things harder for me but i like giving my customers the flexibility!
Shopify handles this flexible option a lot better than bigcartel does and I'm really happy about it π₯°
Before my drop i continued work on the hopen mochi color guide! I have about 15 more colors to match and then i will take the photos. Making progress!!

And yes, it's inevitable that the scent with wane over time. Where you keep the ditto probably plays a role too, the spring one was kinda sheltered among other plush atop of a dresser in the bedroom, the christmas ones spent a lot of time in my christmas tree in the living room, i'm guessing there was a lot more air circulating there

I can definitely use a higher scent concentration going forward to try and make them last a little longer, but i think its the nature of these pellets & scents i use to lose their scent over time. I do mix the scents and add them in shortly before i ship the plush out, so they're not losing their scent duration with me too much- but you're right that they prob dull faster in open air!

I know you made a post a while back of your scenting process and that you try to make the beads not too overpowering, and that there are some scents that are stronger than others. But eventually the scent does fade over time, i guess that's inevitable. But i found it interesting that the sugar cookie ditto for the Easter/Spring drop in 2022 did keep its smell for several months, but the dittos from the christmas update with sugary scents faded faster... those are pretty much scentless now. The gingerbread smell was stronger to begin with, so that one still smells a bit. Just wondering if in the past you have used a higher amount of essence to scent the beads? I understand using more essence would mean more expenses and use of materials in the long term, but i wouldn't mind if the dittos remained scented for a bit longer! Or i dunno if there are ways to preserve the smell? Maybe keeping them in an area that is not very ventilated...
