Peek: Delver's Digest Awards

With winter here, it's time for the annual Delver's Digest awards!  While our editors and writers are sorting out the categories and nominees, it's still not too late to nominate your guild or team for one of our many prestigious awards!

The competition is looking fierce, though.  The Legendary Lockpicker category for secret or obstructed rooms is going to be difficult to take from Sigmund Bronzebeard, who has taken to challenging the so-called dwarven door dungeon to hone his skills.  Still, while he surely has quantity locked down, perhaps your local rogue has managed an especially sweet secret somewhere?

The Behemoth Bulwark award for exceptional defensive action has a class we don't often see in the running.  Mayrl Swiftsprig was on the scene when the Centerpoint dungeon started its usual swarm expedition, and with her plant summons, she was able to actually keep Northtown from having to relocate!  Cartographers seem split on how good that actually is.  While some appreciate not having to update the area yet again, the planned new location would have actually put Northtown to the north for the first time in over a decade!

While those categories have a few clear frontrunners, the competition is very fierce for this year's Amazing Archer award, and that's just for the current nominees!  Carl Farclaw of the Principalities has been garnering a lot of attention for his Swarm Arrow attack, and is sure to be teaching the finer points to his fellow beastkin over the winter.  Over in Holdhome, Urist Bladebeard has been using his signature metallic beard hairs to staggering effect in dungeons, focusing more on close-range rather than far distance.  And speaking of far distance, Barnot Leaguebow of the Central Horlon Rangers, claims to have felled a stagnant beast with an arrow from over three leagues away!  So if you're looking to add your own nomination for this category, they'll have their work cut out for them to take it home!

The Heroic Herbalist category is also seeing some stiff competition, though mostly between two rivals: Ed and Ned Greentusks, of the Orc Nomads.  The two brothers have been constantly trying to outdo the other with new herbs and new cultivation methods.  They're even in competition for the Awesome Alchemist award, as they put those all those herbs to good use, too!

There are also categories with significantly less obvious competition, at least so far.  Be sure to get your nominations in quickly!  The Daring Dresser for field dressing kills hasn't seen much action, with the most notable so far being Oxnard Steelhoof, one of Leaguebow's companions and the one to dress the stagnant beast he slew.  Not to put his skills down, but the beast itself was only notable for the distance of the kill.  So be certain to get those stories of interesting, valuable, and useful trophies in soon, before the nominations pour in!

Similarly, there hasn't been much movement in the category for Mythic Miner.  While Holdhome is always a good bet for the winner of this category, we've been hearing rumors of a new motherlode in the northern reaches of the Horlon Kingdom!  With your help, we might be able to give more information when we give the award!

And these are just the individual awards!  Don't forget to nominate your guilds or your teams for their respective categories, too!  With the Red Rose guild having difficulties with gear negotiations, other guilds have been stepping up to fill the gap!  Get those guild achievements and team accolades submitted soon, and you could see your guild or party as an official nominee for one of our awards!

Partially inspired by Navar44.  They asked more about what is basically the adventurer olympics, but my brain insisted on a different set of awards.  We'll get to the more official competition later, I'm sure.
