Do you prefer monthly or by update charging?

I've heard some people say they dislike the "charge by update" method I've been doing on patreon and would prefer it to be a monthly charge instead.

I understand it makes things more predictable payment wise but I'm not sure if I'll be able to release consistent monthly playable updates. If people are still more comfortable with the monthly system despite that, I'm open to changing it. Please let me know what you guys think.

(For the record: If people prefer monthly and Im unable to make a deadline in a month, I'd let people know in advance so they could edit their pledges.)

Well as of now I update once a month or less, the reason I picked per update initially is so people don't get charged if I don't release something that month. And I can't make a pledge level less than $1 so I can't really take your advice since I don't release that many paid updates.

Make a general calculation on how many updates you release per month for each tier you have now; Then charge accordingly each month instead of each update. Let's say you charge 1$ for the minimum tier and you deliver 2 updates a month. Then charge 2$ a month for the monthly. I prefer it monthly just basically cause I get paid at the 5th of each month so, well, life comes first, then games. I can manage it easier.
