There are so many quotable lines from this film! The emotional impact of this film has stayed with me all day. I'm blown away by this masterpiece. It was heavier than I was originally expecting, but it was definitely worth it.

OMG can you watch African Queen? That would be excellent! Also what happened to Wizard of Oz? Thought maybe you'd watch that prior to Wicked part 2 (which I know you are looking forward to.). IMO Wicked lands better when Wizard of Oz is fresh in our minds.

2025-09-21 21:50:18 +0000 UTC1: If you love Bogart & Katharine Hepburn, they were in a movie together called The African Queen that you’d almost certainly love. 2: Bogart, Peter Lorre (Ugarte,) & Sydney Greenstreet (the guy whose voice you love) were also in The Maltese Falcon, which is possibly the best noir film of all time.

As dispecible as he could be, the police captain was my favorite character. He was so funny. I only know Claude Rains from The Invisible Man and The Wolf Man and he was great in those, so I'm glad I got to see him more in this and I don't know what more can be said about Bogie, he was spectacular. And to answer an early question you had Jax, the actor who played Victor was 6'3! He towered over Bogie who was only 5'8!
