Sticker Club - July - Bee Pug-ressive

Heya everbody!

July's only a week out and I wanted to show you guys what the Sticker Club will be getting, and give you a quick breakdown of how the sticker came to be. I first had hoped to develop a sticker for my bumble pug character which I created when working on ideas for Alicia and Chewster a while back for Inktober in 2015.

I loved the character and thought it would be such a fun sticker. I really wanted to add some text to the sticker, but had no idea what sort of dog or bee pun could work, and sort of shelved the idea for a week and kept the idea in the back of my mind.

THEN, my wife started randomly started doing this cheerleader chant while we were making lunch one day. "Be, Agressive, B, E, Agressive!" I heard that and was like "THATS IT!" except make the "Be" instead read "Bee", and change the "Agg" in the beginning of "aggressive" to "Pug"! CLEVER! Hehe. So I made a mock-up.

Once I had the mock-up I blew it up and printed it out (seen above), then transferred it to my light table and sketched it up so that the paws would be wrapping around the letters.

Next I took that and brought it into photoshop and inked it up!

Added flat colors

And finally added shadows, highlights and overall color temperature unification :D

Then, after all that I realized Pug-ressive sounds like progressive, instead of aggressive! So I had to edit the image (about 15 layers of adjustments) so that it would read like it should!
